Nova is far from a top character, but that card with that design does look pretty darn cool. Also Nova seems to have a bit of a cult following…more than say Strong Guy or Mole Man etc. Going for his GT vc at 5k obo will be a tall ask though.

It will result in me having a ton of dups…so very well could be seeing lots of these on the market. Never too late to go for a set! It is true they have largely started to dry up and getting harder to find them…but I got in late myself on this set, so it’s possible.

Unsurprisingly, the last of the 3 major sets I’m going for to be finished is….the purple vc. Gold seismic went first, then Kaleids (soon)…but the purple VCs I do not have the end in sight yet and they have pretty much dried up- it is a beast of a set to collect. Doesn’t help they weren’t in hobby.

I do know of one collector who is going for both the red PMGs and blue PMGs, as well as 198/198 golds, and even an orange lava set. And also has nearly 20 green PMGs. So that person is putting way more into this set than me

My regret is not going for the red PMGs. It would have been nice to have just one PMG set…ah well. I don’t even mind the white border issues much anymore…they just look awesome with the shiny foil. You chose great parallels to go for with the PMGs.

Also…incredibly, I still do not have my Spidey gold seismic above back from CGC yet. Sent it in with comc…Express tier, paid a lot extra for that too…due back 8/4….not in my inventory as of 8/19. Pretty amazing for express tier…5 weeks and counting. Either CGC is messing up or COMC is.
Thanks, I am still chasing after some PMG (although PMG green might be too expensive to buy now), which is why it is hard for me to try to get into the Kaleidoscope set. I don't have any of the big 3 characters, and if I paid nearly as much for that lot (although it is a good price), I might not have sufficient hobby funds left to make a good offer, if a 1/1 surfer shows up, so I'll need to hold back on big purchases and just do some small purchases here and there, mostly in the PMG cards. These came in a few days ago:

I agree -- it looks nice with the superfractor design and the variant cover elements.

Stunning cards- especially that red PMG Black Cat. The more I see PMGs like this, the more I want to collect them, hah. (I’m spread too thin in this set though- I’ll just enjoy the ones people such as yourself post in here).

Probably a good move to have some $ in case a Surfer 1/1 pops up, card is gonna be quite pricey. Lots of big name 1/1s out there who still have yet to surface, like the Wolverines, Venoms, and Surfers (and only the spidey regular GT has surfaced).

Spidey gold finalllly popped- happy with result (and is the alpha as we thought above). A 10 would have been epic, but they can't all be 10s. The big thing was not one of those 4-6 QC issue cards.

Wow, looks great! If only UD had a chance to give '94 MM the same treatment, I would be all over that!

If we are allowed to dream in that lane why not also the MM'95 and MM'96?

Hah, true. That would make more sense since those later sets are not as common. I'd buy those as well. But '94 is my favorite of the classic 90's sets.

Thanks! What’s everyone working on in this set? Is anyone going for a parallel set currently? The main things I’m still working on are purple crystal vc’s, which seem like that’ll never be finished, and also picking up Woods off and on (but man it’s hard to get into that parallel set, not exactly a flashy set).

I’m in the process of grading all the golds with cgc. Not a big grader at all but for some reason found myself doing it for this set. The latest drop has most of the bigger names. Very happy how they turned out, lots of 10s, no pristine 10s though. But no 4-6 QC issues at least! I’ll be waiting many weeks for the rest of the 80-odd golds to pop.

It’s not a set, but is a set up lol. Please keep in mind it’s a work in progress.

I wish that Thor was a PMG lol. It’s a blue Trax, but it still looks cool.

I just picked up the Kaleidoscope today, but still need the following:

Red prism variant
Metallurgy - im about to get one of these
Both Gold Seismic ( I just missed out on both of them)
PMG /50, /10, /1 - I don’t honestly expect to get the 1/1
Purple crystal variant
Orange Lava
Emerald surge and variant
Golden treasures - I don’t expect to get these either

Oh gotcha- pic isn’t coming through too big and blue traxx really is close looking to blue PMG…still nice looking blue on the Thor.

Great progress on the Dormammu. He’s a cool art in this set to rainbow. I saw a purple crystal vc was sold not long ago, I’d like to say around $200-250 so they do get up there in price. Also don’t forget about the printing plates, both reg and vc, but being 1/1s who knows how feasible.

Also nice pickup on the kaleidoscope! That’s gonna get tough to pick up at those dry up more and more. Prob /25-/30 or so in the long run, give or take.

One thing that might help with prices on kaleidoscope's in the long run is lack of #/# ... all those "collectors" that chase numbered parallels are not going to even realize how rare are these...

Yep...not being numbered is probably why they aren’t going for more than you’d think. It’s easier to just see a number like 12/25 than have to guess at the print run and know how much it took to combine for them on epack. I think they are probably around the level of orange lavas long term, give or take a few…but they probably won’t get orange lava pricing.

What’ll keep the kaleid print run low is the epack percentage of print run was tiny for 92MM plat (although the overall print run itself was pretty large)…and also that for every mini box you see out there, it impinges on the maximum possible kaleids that can be made (for every 10 mini boxes of a character out there, it’s one less kaleid that can be made of that character)…since that mini box can’t go towards a kaleidoscope. And it seems like a lot of mini boxes are out there in this set. So no question they’ll be pretty rare…50 digital base in the competitive epack trading environment, especially for the big characters, isn’t easy. But you’re right, many people live by the all mighty serial number

I completely agree! I think this will be like some of the early to mid 90’s inserts were. Stated very low odds, but no serial #. Then 15 years later the actual print run gets released, and the prices started jumping.

Ha- where is that being promoted? I can assure the card is here with me (just sent it home from COMC- it’s part of my seismic gold set). Looks like they are using the buy price of the raw card when I purchased…a bit misleading because that’s when it was raw. I graded the card, it was never sold graded.

Geez I didn’t think it would go for that much either way.

Cool cards….Mags especially (I remember when that was pulled from a break, someone had the Mag spot and hit it…pretty sure that was the regular and not VC, so would be this).

Although not gonna be the easiest sales….a marvel card of Nightmare or Mojo for 7 or 8 thousand dollars..it’s a 1/1 in a very popular set..but I don’t see that, for those characters. Not exactly a lot of Nightmare collectors. Also this is the account that was connected to those fake GTs that were sold (supposedly unknowingly)…even though I don’t doubt these ones posted at all, they look pretty legit and appear all graded by PSA…that whole situation rubbed me the wrong way and does not make me want to buy from them. Explanations and the sources of those fakes were never really made public.

Interesting trivia fact:
  • Same seller was mentioned as the source of number questionable Golden Treasures card copies in June

source: long thread from June 23 on FB group: Marvel Card Collectors Worldwide - MCCW

EDIT: Sry, Dan -- I should start 1st reading all posts before replying with redundant comments ;-)
