Pure evil… lol. How does anyone still have money to afford this?
|
Looks like DynaEtch has something new to go after! I’ll probably stick with my original set, but like the idea.

Oh no -- they did it; this could be huge.
Dyna's going to go nuts. |
Variant Cover, Canvas and Lenticular parallels of the base cards! Pure madness ...
|
100 cards so it looks like the Lost Ladies are still lost. Wonder if it will affect their value.
|
I love it! And my wallet seriously loves that this probably won't make it to epack.
|
Upper deck going crazy. what a insane set to drop

Holy moly. I mean between this and the MM XL set, UD is really milking things before they lose the license. Why not I guess when Platinum did so well.
My wallet has taken such a beating the last couple months, this is brutal. I am super intrigued about seeing the original 92MM set- my favorite set- in chrome. That is a ridiculous number of parallels though- lunacy. I want to see if the Battle spectra will be the original 5 card spectra etch’s, and only those. With Gems of those. That would be interesting. I’ll be staying tuned! |
It’s kind of neat that before the MM brand goes away, it literally comes full circle back to how it started. The whole line bookended by the same famed 92 set that started it all.
Artist autos…so we’ll have Jusko autos on them? Printing plates of these…so much craziness to take in. I just want to see what the base chrome look like. |
hope they do more then just the 92 set
|
I was just thinking about building a set of 1992 for nostalgia purposes. Fook.
|
When does this drop? When does UD lose the license?
|

12/31 at 11:59pm. :D This set sounds really cool, and will likely be very expensive. |
I guess I'll be the lone dissenter. I'd rather see a set we hadn't seen before, as opposed to some chromified version of something most of us already have in a binder somewhere.
Sure, we're getting original art soon (Matriarchs) but it seems like they could spend their energy elsewhere. It's odd that nothing about this had been leaked, as far as I am aware, but what about the other sets we actually knew about? These reprint sets, I just don't get it. Of course, I'd be silly to say it won't sell well. So I guess that's why they did it. EDIT: Also, you can't produce a set in a day. That means they have had this in the hopper for a while. Between this and XL, I wonder how many more of these reprint sets were on the horizon? |

I think a reprint set probably takes a lot less time to produce, and one theory is going to back to MM XL maybe UD was expecting to lose the license and that explains the effort to rush out these reprint sets in the last months.
So looking at the checklist, I’m a little confused about the comic cuts- seems somewhat out of place for a 92MM set. I can’t tell if the artist autos will be Jusko’s or an insert set of random marvel artist autos like Bagley (like Platinum did), although the latter would be out of place. And the sketches. Will they be legacy sketches after 92? Will it be like platinum and XL and a very rare hit (maybe even sketches by Jusko?!). This stuff comes down to what Jusko’s relationship with UD is…it does seem like that chasm was bridged when UD made it right with Jusko for the MM XL. I think the variant covers will look great on these 92s. The sell sheet makes it seem like there are whole 100 card parallel sets in canvas, lenticular, and Holofoil but that doesn’t seem right. It’s more likely it’ll just be a 9-card lenticular insert set, 10 card canvas set, 20 card Holofoil set. But what will the art on those be? Rehashes from base? Will UD actually use the lost ladies insert set from the 92 set? Maybe even Jusko’s 93MM paintings? They won’t do it…but a really cool thing would be to release a separate tin set like back in 92, but all in platinum with a compete set and lost ladies exclusive. Or make it even a redemption. If I was designing this set, it would be so fun. UD I want to see a #100 checklist card in platinum! I know you don’t do checklists in basically anything anymore, but for the purpose of consistency. Imagine /15 and 1/1 golden treasure parallel of the checklist :) Have the top blue border be a different color for each parallel. The sell sheet does say 100 card set. If no checklist, then what’s the 100th card? I’m very stoked to see these |

I’m seeing a date of 12/4 on a major site. Does anyone know how it’ll be possible to actually get a physical box of this? Do you have to constantly keep up with the major sites and see when it switches from sold out to taking presale, and I guess that’s random? I’m taking it won’t be on epack? Or will it be. The window is gonna be narrow. |

Also in terms of reprinting a set, this does not bother me as much as the MM XL clear money gray reprint set they did (which still does not sit well with me to this day).
Besides the chrome on 92’s being a cool idea, the reason it’s different is the MM16 was released (by UD) as a limited set, with its respective numbered cards, collected as such. Even though the reprint set was XL, everything is so flooded now with all things MM16, it really did tarnish the limited nature of the cards imo. This on the other hand has none of that, with the original release being mass produced, there is no limited set here to trounce on. Heck original set wasn’t even Upper Deck. I wonder how they’ll get the scans/images of the cards (borrow from FPG? :P) or if they can just use the old 92 cards directly, I dunno. |
are the people complaining the same who complain about topps reprint version chrome star wars and gpk ?

Some of us, yes. I scoffed at the Sapphire SW releases. But I haven't bought any SW stuff in a while, so whatever. I also stopped my Billy Dee auto collection a while back so I don't really pay that much attention to SW. GPK? Not since I was 12. Which is what I always thought those were aimed at. (I know, I know, I'm way wrong about that!) |
So much excitement and yet not a single picture is released,

Just look at your 1992 set, and imagine them all shiny. :)! |
Artist autos - if this is Jusko auto on base cards wonder if it has any impact on the MM16 buyback 1992 autos... What do they have against that set lol!

I’m in this boat. It almost has to look good, without even seeing them.
Artist autos - if this is Jusko auto on base cards wonder if it has any impact on the MM16 buyback 1992 autos... What do they have against that set lol!
I’m convinced their main goal is to tank the set :) In all seriousness, *if* these are Jusko autos, which I’m not sold on yet, could be general marvel artist/writers, but if they are Jusko, I think we’ll see them on a chrome card like the Marvel Platinum autos, differentiating from the buybacks. Was just thinking this would be a perfect set for buybacks from the 92 set but they already did it. |
The sell sheet does say 100 card set. If no checklist, then what’s the 100th card?
I was thinking about this, and I wonder if there might be some more banned cards like there was in MMXL. I assume for sure Punisher is out. Red Skull was removed from MMXL, but was in Platinum so I'm unsure there. Nightcrawler was included in MMXL but hasn't been in anything else and was always rumored to be banned. Apocalypse is another character we haven't seen in a long time, but it was in MMXL. I'm wondering if they will use the Lost Ladies to help fill out missing base cards that they may not be able to print. I could also see a Lost Lady taking the place of the checklist (especially if it's no longer accurate), but it would be pretty cool to see the checklist included! It seems like exclusion of characters outside of Punisher has been inconsistently applied, wo who knows what we end up with. |
