Did not think the numbers were this up in the air for AL Cy Young. If he can have a couple more wins, it will be interesting.

There were at least a few games of abysmal fielding/closing and should have won, so there's that. Part of me thinks the Angels are promising him further changes to keep him around, but another part of me thinks it's definitely gonna be over. A real head scratcher for sure.

Cole's ERA and quality starts, not to mention his WAR are going to be tough to beat. Especially with Shohei having shown some arm fatigue. But I'm here for it!

Looks like prices are still dropping a bit. Super interesting, 3 cards I sold in July have already been relisted and went for 20-25% less. Thinking some people jumped in and then got cold feet after the last weeks of Ohtani walks and Angels losses?

I think some people were drunk on the #invest upward arrow and never considered that prices would normalize. I guess they got nervous about their 29.9% credit card APR .

There's a brief window to reenter. After playoffs are over, the public courting coverage of Ohtani will begin and the hype starts again. Happy hunting.

Cards always drop into season's end, it just happened later with Ohtani's cards than usual. Peak is typically All-Star break, this time it was a few weeks later

O boy you took that way too seriously and personally. It's just a card forum man. Enjoy your Ohtani $$$$!

CY Young isn't given to the pitcher with the most wins. Cole is a clear frontrunner at this point.

Cole is 5th in war, his combo of era and Ks probably gets him their but it's far from clear cut.

1st in the American League according to ESPN and Baseball Reference. The next closest AL pitcher is 3.8.

He's tied for 1st in Games Started, 1st in Quality Starts, 3rd in ERA, 7th in Wins, 1st in innings pitched, 3rd in Ks, 8th in Ks/9, and 5th in WHIP.

I think he has a pretty decent chance of winning unless he all of a sudden losses it this next month and a half.

Current Cy Young Odds

Cole -380
Gausman +450
Valdez +950
Castillo +2000
Ohtani +4000

Anyone that thinks Ohtani has a shot could get some nice odds right now

New guy here! I'm looking for some advice on the Ohtani image variation SP my lil brother pulled from a Topps Chrome 2023 box. Looking to grade but not sure if I should go with SGC and the $9 special, quick turnaround time, but lower desirability, or wait for a grade from PSA and (likely) higher sale price. Thoughts? Let me know if this should be in its own post.

UPDATE/EDIT: I think this belongs in the GRADING thread. My bad!

If the card is to be sold, go with PSA for most value

Angel red card should be in a color-match PSA slab.

I'm sure the guys in here will give you a fair price.

Very good point. Thinking of grading a Saquon Barkley auto for the red match.

Fangraphs has him 5th.
