Exactly this.

True, they could have thrown in some 1990 UD Low boxes since they are only $25.

I'm not totally upset about this. Even going by recent eBay sales, you're still coming out ahead if you decide to just sell it on eBay. Hey, it sucks to get excited and then get let down, but this is not a total loss. People are still going to do okay one way or the other unless you open everything and get skunked.

The value is definitely there if you want to do the work to move it.

$800 in site value, but probably under $300 in MSRP. Obviously the market (AKA blowout) dictates current box prices, but that is VERY upsetting to hear that they can't even put in a hobby box. Just a pure retail dump.

Yikes, not looking promising. The actual cost to BO for the contents of that box was probably like $90.

Mystery products and disappointment. One of the hobby's most iconic duos.

Worried about variety now. I have two 6.2's coming ...............

Maybe they weren't expecting people to buy multiple? Hopefully my boxes are a little different.

Going off of eBay, the prices were north of $700 still.

2016 Donruss Optic Football Mega box “Wentz base, Brady base, Zeke Red and Yellow”
2018 Bowman Baseball Mega Box “Tatis Mega, Ohtani base paper, no color”

2020 2 Hype Creator cards pack “not sure it matters”
1 Black and 1 White Matte pack “Fields red, Ettienne white, Lance white, Surtain blue”
1 Pro Mold Magnetic sleeve
1 Blowout Cards XL t-shirt
1 box Mike and Ike Mega Mix

My box was 6.2 lb delivery.

I’m sure “value” wise, this is way over $500. But it would have been nice to get a Hobby box of something.
Posted the “Hits” in red.

6.2 LB box...Weighed it and it was about 5 lbs

Contents (and BO list price)

1 Topps X Trevor Lawrence Moon Beamer Box - $125
1 Topps 2019 Holiday Box - $70
1 Topps 2016 Holiday Box - $70
1 Stars and stripes 2020 Hobby box -$90
1 2020 Hype Creator Cards Pack - No idea what this is
1 Black Matte Pack - $5.30
1 White Matte Pack - $5.30
1 2018 Update Fat Pack - $100
1 2017 Chronicles Baseball Blaster -$39
1 Hobby box 2015 Bowman Chrome -$325

So I got lucky with the 2015 Bowman chrome box. Overall, current value of my box on BO is about $830

Nice, glad they aren’t all just retail. I would have been much happier if I had even gotten the Stars and Stripes hobby box.

I had a feeling the weights weren't the actual weight.

Probably true, and makes things more exciting for us waiting.

If I worked in the shipping department i wouldn't want to weigh every box ..... i would weigh the first one legitimately and carry over that weight for all of them. :-)

I totally get that from that perspective. I’m not upset about the “value” per se. I just come from a place where I do this to enjoy opening product. Sure, I’ll sell cards but I don’t think I’ve ever sold a sealed box. But cases prices are out of hand and I’ve dropped from opening around 10 products a year to 1-2. I figured that for $500, this gave me a chance at some really cool stuff I normally wouldn’t open. Chances were I wouldn’t hit any of that but that I’d still get a hobby box of something, even if I lost a $100 or so in “value” overall. So getting no hobby box stings quite a bit.

Totally agree
you should post your results on twitter and tag BO - so people at national know what they might be getting.
Both of these boxes so far are incredibly disappointing for me - I totally get there are risks with mystery boxes -- but I was hoping for one cool hobby box in each mix. None of us on the forum would pay the inflated current prices for those retails.

Tweet the results to blowout so the people at the national know what they're getting.

Following up! No hits of note anywhere. I'd say I got maybe 5-10 cards worth $20 or more. MAYBE. Overall, a loss in terms of hits. But a win in terms of total value. Wish I got something like licensed basketball or football though. Can't complain too much though!

Am I missing something, or is it all overpriced retail, 'on-demand' releases, non-licensed off brand stuff and maybe one true desirable hobby box?

Not sure why people thought it would be different. BO isn't going to put Prizm hobby boxes in every box or even every 20 boxes.

Here are the results of my three boxes: all shipped together in a single, large box that had a recorded weight of 17.8lb (17lb, 13oz). The large box contained three 12x12x8 shipping boxes which weighed the following:

Box 1 = 5lb 7oz
Box 2 = 5lb 7oz
Box 3 = 5lb 9oz

The actual MegaMix box was inside of the 12x12x8 shipping boxes. The pick below breaks down the contents; I added the BO "list" price as well as sale prices for each item. I also broke down the "common" items that were in each box. I'm not familiar with a couple of those, so I didn't include prices. Here's what I got:

Common items in each box:

Box 1:

Box 2:

Box 3:

I've bought these the previous years, I guess I just got lucky before but I always ended up with a couple hobby boxes.

Seeing marked up retail releases and on-demand Topps boxes that have dropped greatly in value makes this seem like much more of a garage sale than previous years.

Obviously that is the intent, I mean we all know its not (nor did it need to be) all desirable products. But this just seems like a big step down for the big increase in price.
