Acuna is going to be fine, and like I said he's going to be a premier player. He won't have the average like Soto, but is a great player.

I said it before, and i'll say it again. Acuna probably contends for MVP's in the future with this Braves team.

I mean, bash him for the playoffs this year, but last year he was 8-18 with an OPS of 1.400.

Yes, his prices will come down, heck everybody's prices are coming down now. I'm watching, and prices are down almost across the board from this summer in all sports it seems. Even Mahomes prices have come down pretty well.
Short COVID season too. Even MVP Belli struggled. Too early of an overreaction

Went to ~30 games last year in Chicago and he was fastest running from 1st to third base that I'd seen at Wrigley. But that is probably not true but he was fast. And in the same game, he hit a leadoff HR off the left field score board at Wrigley field, that was a monster shot also, very rare sight.

He seemed so cool in 2019 with the 40-40 but this year was more a Flavor-Flave vibe and not as impressive but such a weird season. Hope he comes back next year and gets another 40-40 season. I believe that will silence the critics.

I think so too. The funniest thing about this thread recently has been how it contrasts with last season. I was just about the only person last season saying his season wasn't great. This year, when he has his best season by far and made major improvement in key areas, you have a bunch of people saying he didn't have a great season.

Many on here judge how good a player is doing purely on how hype their cards are. Not even how well their cards are doing or how expensive they are, just on pure hype. 2019=Acuna top hype guy so everyone thinks he had a monster season. 2020= Acuna no longer a hype guy so people think he had a disappointing season.

Played through wrist issue

October 20, 2020
Acuna played through a sore left wrist throughout the postseason, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

ANALYSIS
Acuna wasn't injured badly enough that the Braves feared he could cause long-term damage, so he played through the issue, knowing that he could heal over the offseason. That perhaps explains why he hit a disappointing .217/.333/.370 in 12 playoff games. It doesn't sound as if the injury is expected to affect him heading into next season.

Man, I said it repeatedly that 2018 was a better season for Acuna than 2019.

2019 he had the 40/40 hype, but still feel 2018 he was better overall at the plate.

2020 he took it further. OBP of over .400 is incredibly for him to me. This year he was tracking to be by far better than he was in 2019, but people think he struggled for some reason.

Too many guys who have absolutely no vested interest in Acuna who are just starving to be right because they missed the big runup in his prices. Too many guys expecting Acuna to already be Trout.

Juan Gonzalez & Jose Canseco were (PEDs & defense aside) two of the best hitters in all of baseball during their peaks. Gonzalez won 2 MVPs and over his peak hit over .300 while being (along with Frank Thomas) the best power/hit batters of the 90's, always near the top in HR & RBI. 2 MVP awards? I think most would take that.

Calm down guys. Acuna Today is 2 months older than Adley Rutschman, the #3 Prospect in all of baseball. He's also 6 months younger than Yordan Alvarez. If you want to already form a final judgment on Acuna and say he's peaked already at 23 years old with 81 HRs & .909 OPS (and lost half a season to COVID), then sell away! Fwiw, Tatis needs to hit 42 HRs next season to keep up the Age/HR pace Acuna is on. He might, but he might also struggle with injuries like Acuna did this year. Soto is an alien.

Acuna will be fine. His wrist is hurt and that’s why he didn’t hit well in the NLCS. Still impacted the games with his speed. He’s going to have a great year next year

Acuna will be just fine.

However, I do think the next five months are going to be rough for him in the hobby. He has lost the luster and will need performance to gain it back. Too many dollars going to newer shiny objects like Tatis, Robert, etc.

Truth! He will be just fine. I expect his base and somewhat more popular/obtainable cards will dip pretty significantly. IF you have patience and a plan...you should be able to pickup some good cards in bulk in the near future. But all his cards are about to see some pretty steep declines shortly. Be patient and have a plan!

So excited! Its one of the best investments in the universe. Buy offseason dips, and sell a few months later at spring training bumps. Nearly zero risk, because the price naturally dips in the offseason and naturally rises in spring training. No games being played, so no "sucky performances" to hinder the spring gaines. Every year I spend more and more at the end of the year. It works for nearly every single player too (players that are relevant).

Smart man! Buy during the dip. Dont buy during the hype. And definitely dont buy during a Hot Streak!

But there have been plenty of posts insinuating that that is what is happening.

Everyone understands he had a not so great series against the Dodgers. We don't need the 200th post about how terrible he is and everyone is wrong about him.

As a net buyer, I’ve just stepped aside hoping they further drive down prices

I’ve been in similar mode the last few offseasons as well but I’m a little worried how the economy could affect spring prices. I feel like its possible that a portion of the spring bump could be negated by high unemployment and inflation. Hope I’m wrong because who am I kidding, I’ll be buying anyway.

Just wait until the 1st slump in April/May. I can actually hear people racing to the bottom.

I generally stopped buying Acuna 2017-2018 cards in spring 2019...unless I see a great deal on a low numbered card. Anyone buying his RCs after spring 2019 as an investment/quick flip is more than likely going to be disappointed as it would be a long term hold as his card values have skyrocketed during his 40/40 run last year. Not in a hurry to sell at all and not selling low right now. The numbers Acuna's has put up in his initial 2+ seasons are unmatched as a 22 year old...he turns 23 in December. Soto is close and is the "professional hitter"...like Manny, Miggy and the Big Hurt...still like Acuna more for his defense and ability to cause havoc to opposing pitchers on the base paths. Tatis is a year younger than Acuna and has played the equivalent of one full season...so the jury is still out for me whether Tatis can keep up his production at the same rate over another year and a half season to what Acuna has done. If Tatis can duplicate in 2021 what he did in 2019 and 2020 combined, then I would say he's closer to Acuna. As it is, all three are fantastic young players....and if you were able to get in on their cards at the point of release, then enjoy the ride. Have cards of all three, though more heavily on Acuna...a similar amount in both Soto and Tatis...most bought within a year of release with the exception of big dollar cards like 1st bowman chrome autos and flagship parallels like black, indy, camo and others.

Im for sure still buying..

We can't expect as collectors/investors our cards to go up every single week/month..

I'm sure many people still don't know who Acuna/Tatis/Soto are.. they are just getting started. the future is bright.. enjoy collecting/investing all these guys.. especially ACUNA!

Anyone here win the raw white jersey SSP? Thought I would get lucky, but outbid last second.

I was tempted by it!! Probably a PSA 8? Great deal on it though for $1300 whoever got it. Really surprised to see it on a 1 day auction.

If you feel left out, someone’s got a horizontal PSA 9 for an $899 BIN. That is a steal
