In any event this is my issue, that so many seem to have anointed him already and gone completely gaga. It's a very difficult game and there are so many variables that can cause guys who start out like world beaters to level off. Maybe he'll beat the odds, he's certainly a tremendous talent, but in baseball only time will tell.

You're correct, the market sentiment around him has changed drastically IMO. I moved everything I had, but will look to buy a piece or two in the offseason. I expect his prices to continue to fall off a cliff after his performance this post season.

He still has a ton of talent and I think will have a very good career, but the luster has started to fade. Soto has became THE guy of the bunch and that is apparent in his bowman chrome auto prices. I think Tatis will get some extra hype this offseason if he signs the massive extension they're talking about. Its a scary thing when a player loses his hype to watch what prices do.

Tons seem to be going through consigners... I wonder if folks were just betting on Braves continuing to WS. And now the market is awash in bunches of his choice cards with the season over.

I wish I had more $$ to spend. But might try to get a couple things from this wave

Considering I'm one of the few who is truly building a collection, I feel like insulting the members who come in this thread and just hate Acuna Jr. Did he struggle? Yes, but many HOFers never won World Series titles either. Also, calling his career over at 22 because of this playoff run is a bit dramatic. Maybe I need to start trolling in the Soto and Tatis threads since it makes sense on BO.

You need to stop taking it personally when people make statements of fact. He struggled in the playoffs and prices are falling. Don't take offense when there's discussion other than fluff and rainbows

I'll do some trash talking, since I also actually collect Acuna (although your collection destroys mine).

Soto is one ugly dude and the Soto Shuffle is ridiculous.

Tatis wears skinny/tight pants and looks ridiculous.

I've got to agree here. The last 3-4 pages of this thread have been nothing but bashing this guy. There hasn't been a single post by anyone saying he is the greatest player in baseball (or anything close to it) in the last week. But there have been plenty of posts insinuating that that is what is happening.

Everyone understands he had a not so great series against the Dodgers. We don't need the 200th post about how terrible he is and everyone is wrong about him.

He struggled, but people started comparing him to Juan Gonzalez and Jose Canseco.

Acuna is going to be fine, and like I said he's going to be a premier player. He won't have the average like Soto, but is a great player.

I said it before, and i'll say it again. Acuna probably contends for MVP's in the future with this Braves team.

I mean, bash him for the playoffs this year, but last year he was 8-18 with an OPS of 1.400.

Yes, his prices will come down, heck everybody's prices are coming down now. I'm watching, and prices are down almost across the board from this summer in all sports it seems. Even Mahomes prices have come down pretty well.
