Yep.

He says this set is "great for collectors", that the, "cards are gorgeous", but they are, "bad investments".

I want to know how it can be a bad investment if it's great for collecting. He said the complete set of 400 will be worth money and insinuated that's a good investment. But there won't be very many 400-card complete sets put together...ever, so aren't people going to have to pay a decent price to put them together.

And then there are the Silver-framed APs /20. I'd like to hear what he thinks a 20-card Trout set is going to be worth, or a Jeter set, Griffey Jr., or Ichiro. Let's see how good he really is at predicting the future.

He's equating a physical collectible to a non-tangible investment product (stock/bond etc).

It's ok that emotion is involved in collectibles....that's what makes it fun and you collect things. SCI is trying to cater to a group of people he is trying to pull into speculating/flipping sports cards. Stock traders - financial investors may get their interest peaked in sports card but can't imagine they will have the patience to deal with selling on ebay or other marketplaces.

One thing I don’t get is “subtracting” graded cards from the print run. Auto cards I get. They’ve become a different commodity, subtracted from the original count. Just because a card is in a slab doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist anymore.

Someone please tell me this is against Ebay rules! There is little to no chance the seller has any p2020 cards in hand. Let alone the Ermsy Trout. He would have to sell upwards of 100 packs to even get close to market value on the card. Laughable to think that anybody would buy this.

I’ve got no love for SCI or others who offer “investment advice” in sports cards, but why is it that a dissenting opinion with the group has to be POMO or FOMO or saltiness?

People are here touting every release, saying “X” is the next to explode or will be $1000, but the opposite is not OK? I think it’s possible to enjoy the release and the cards and not have the opinion that every card is undervalued and due to shoot to the moon.

You'll notice that you're not promised a Project 2020 card. You're just promised a card. You could get a 1991 fleer card. 1 in 50 maybe will get a P2020 card?

Red Sox collector here. Most likely skipping yesterday's Rivera/Ripken and will most likely get a Jeter/Gwynn pack from today. If there's no crazy market value for either of them I have two friends who love Yankees and Padres I can give them to so it's win-win.

I bought Thiele Koufax and Ermsy Williams today at what I hope are decent prices as a hedge against presales that I'm a little nervous on.

They are both great cards that I think will appreciate over time, but cancelled orders really make this more stressful than it should be.

I don’t know what they did. Did they run out of one touches for a day and switch to snap tites before getting in another shipment of one touches the next day? I ordered my Baller Trouts with two hours left on the clock and was afraid they would come in snap tites due to a Topps using all their one touches on earlier orders.

Why wouldn't you just send a flat rate box stuffed with base cards? Essentially Haiku could have just done that for anyone on this forum who used paypal goods for a $4700 Baller Mystery Lot, instead of not sending anything at all, and claim refund for item never shipped.

Partially because people have seen a large gain on the earlier run of which they own, a significant % which is unrealized paper gains on pre-sells. They have a vested interest in keeping the value high until they either get the cards in hand, or are out of the limbo period where bad actors can return cards and get a full refund.

And it's Round 2, so obviously yes people did pay for these Round 1, and it was profitable for him.
