So SPI asks the question "What happens to the value of the 2020 cards if they make a 2021 or 2022" and insinuates that the prices would fall. I disagree. I think that the 2020 cards will hold if not go up as newer sets started dropping.

He also fails to realize the impact these cards have on people outside of the sports card hobby. Never before has sports cards been able to capture the attention of pop culture like this has and it will forever be known as the first.

BTW according to the Project 2020 facebook group Ben Baller announced on his podcast today that he's doing the first collaboration card with another artist. It's a 90 minute podcast so I haven't listened myself but here's the link if people are interested: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas...=1000476089966

He says that people have lost their Dam minds buying these cards at high prices but says the cards are great if you're a collector but not even close to being a good investment for the future 510,20 years down the road.

Long story short, he wants collectors (and investors) to acknowledge that they can buy a PSA 10 Trout Update for the price of an Ermsy right now.

Congrats. $125 is a good price. I Think $180-200 was way overcooked at this point. I predict it settles in the $140’s for awhile. If I’m right I won’t say I told you so (promise).

I definitely wanted the card, but didn't want to fork over $180 for sure. Buyers market right now would kick myself for not picking up one

He completely missed the boat. Aren't people paying him $50 a month to get hot tips on cards like this?

He let his subscribers down.

I joined his membership a few weeks ago just to see what the content was like. Someone yesterday posted in his Membership Facebook group disagreeing with him. Said something about how he praises himself, I forgot the wording, it was priceless. I could see him in the corner pouting after he read it.

Difficult to define, as you can just sell one at $250. We can put it to the group here to see if that is right or we can say there need to be 3 ebay sales of $250 or more to define it. This is just fun, because if they are $250 I am great with it and don't mind losing one to you.

We also don't have to bet. I am not calling you out on your prediction. I hope you are right.

Also fine if you want to hold off and just make it a pride bet. I don't mind either way.

Can I get in on this? I'll take the under on $250, putting up one of my Baller Trouts in wager.

I wonder how many of the 0 iTrader, less than 100 post, recently joined members that keep commenting here will be here in the end. I almost feel like all those new members but have a ton of knowledge of cards suddenly have been part of the recently discovered "cook groups."

I like how TBP would quote them and be like, "Nice first post!"
I'll plan on being here through card 400

His interviews are great. Asks the person a question and then interrupts them and goes on a 10 minute rant about his thoughts on the question he asked his interviewee.

Guy also quit posting breaks on YouTube because he was getting destroyed in the comments about how he handled the cards, mispronounced the names, and fumbled with packs. Replied back to every single negative comment on his YouTube and hearted every comment that praised him.

One of the biggest quick flip opportunities in the hobby's history and SCI missed the boat. Sad.

Tl;dw summary of SCI video:

*P2020 cards are great to collect but not to invest in.
*Thinks most of the P2020 hype is due to lack of sports rn.
*Topps might water down P2020 by repeating the set year after year.
*Asks in 10 years how many people will care about this set.
*Cards are overprinted.
*"People lost their damn minds on Topps 2020 Project."

I will say, SCI brought up one point that I thought could hurt the long term price growth of some of the more middling print run cards. That’s that even though it’ll be by different artists, there’s still going to be 15-16 more versions of every single card and they’ll be much cheaper than the pre-existing versions. I think long run it’s a concern, but it’s going to take months before that plays itself out.

I don't know why he's even doing a comparison between these cards and the cards they are based on, they are two completely separate entities with different audiences (that happen to overlap). Saying that 2020 is not a great investment because HE would rather have the actual rookie card is not good advice, that apparently people are paying him for.

Please don't dilute yourself Baller by doing a card with another artist. This is one artist per card. If you want to do that, that's fine. Make it like a teddy bear card like the other guy did. But please dont dilute this.

I think Baller is pissed his PR got smashed

Kinda like how Topps watered down the value of 1952 Topps by having another set in 1953 and so on?
