Anyone know the print run on 2018 Gold label class 1,2,3 and the black parallels?

24/74

As a huge Ohtani collector, I never thought I would get so lucky to pull one of his auto's let alone a hard signed Real One Red.
Congratulations - I think I would hit my head on the ceiling pulling one in the wild like that.

Nice BBM card! BTW that RP43 are limited to 4500 cards(they sell as a set and only sell 4500 boxes), people don't know about it, but those BBM card are really low PR compare to Topps card.

I have noticed that Ohtani 2018 Gold label cards have been trending up in price (more so than other not as popular topps brands like gallery, archives etc.) and I was curious if this was due to the print run (the black parallels have low PSA pops) or if it was just due to some of the cards having Ohtani both pitching and hitting.

Any thoughts from the board?

As Sho's cards start to trend up again with spring training started, higher end cards become unreachable for some people. They begin to go after cards that may still be affordable for their budget...that's my guess why the gold label RCs are now starting to trend upwards. There's also new Sho fans jumping into the mix too.

Getting excited for the season! Just sharing my true blues!

Turned out blue was a good choice now that he's wearing Dodger blue...

I completely agree, but why gold label vs Gallery, Archives, big league etc?

Probably due to the pitching+hitting aspect (at least with the class 1)

Thats what I was trying to figure out. If it was the design or if it was the print runs. Especially on the black parallels.

Out of those 4 brands mentioned, gold label looks the best? Though some may prefer Archives over gold label.

I was shocked. Slow pulled from the top and and saw Angel red and DH + P so I knew it was Sho. I figured it would be an image parallel. Saw the red ink and stared at it for a few minutes trying to comprehend.

I think my brain short circuited.

A few years ago - I pulled a red ink Trout out of a Target fat pack. Can't believe I've experienced that twice now.

Has anyone else been noticing any trends with the Ohtani cards they collect? I am a low end collector (the most I have spent is $350 on an Ohtani 2018 topps chrome x-fractor). I am holding my Ohtani RC cards for the long term. And maybe will pick up a few that I don't have yet this year.

Its interesting because back in 2021 when Ohtani broke out I was mainly buying base, and everyone was like don't buy base, buy parallels and numbered in my price range. The base cards I bought in the $10 and less range are doing pretty well right now. But I started buying Topps flagship parallels (mainly rainbow foils) and the #700 has done well, but I paid like $135 for a US1 at that time, and now you can find them for cheaper, so I bought many of those at the top of the market.

I was mainly noticing the trend that Topps non-flagship parallels, SP's and SSP's seem to be appreciating much more in value than the topps flagship and Topps chrome refractors I had bought in the past.

Pulling sho ink when you have zero expectations to do so is a fun experience, congrats

I am very excited to be able to post my first ever Shohei autograph in this thread.

It has already found its home in the center of my card display case, where I get to look at it with awe each day
