I think his silence speaks volumes. He's caught, the best way is to avoid it with vague answers and statements like, I don't have time for this. My guess is he was hoping this would pass without much discussion and then pull it off for bigger guys than Arcia. Regardless of people and their perpetrating being a "baller". Money makes people stupid. Guaranteed of this didn't come up, it would've grown from here. It's such a bad fake, it's laughable. Time to fess up and admit to being a scammer.

It is unexpected and nobody knows the absolute truth but Mike. People that actually work Thousand dollar deals gift with him weekly will not stop working with him. If this is his biggest problem after doing 50-60k in sales a year I'm not too worried. I would turn around and make a thousand dollar purchase with him this second.

So. Card probably not going to be submitted for "Best Pull" of the month contest?

Isn't this fraud? Isn't this a scam from the beginning?

Remember Haiku? This was a person that for months, set up a plan of action to steal people's cards, their money. He was calculated, he was cunning, and nobody saw it coming.

Doesn't this one instance show the same cunning, the same calculation? This kid pulled or purchased an Oswaldo Arcia refractor auto from 2013 Bowman. He then found a pen that closely matched the color of the autograph, found Arcia's twitter handle, wrote it on the card himself, sent it off to BGS for grading (likely a 20 day grade so it was a good month before the card returned) and then put the card up on eBay with no indication this wasn't 100% the real thing.

That's the kind of pre-meditation you look for in a murder one conviction for God's sake.

No matter how stupid or how trivial this potentially $200 sale was/is, it's a scam all the same. Until today, he had no problem selling this card fraudulently (he said so himself).

I've done too much business with him to not be pissed off by this whole thing. Damn you Mike.

As much as I don't like the scam...this I might like even less.

It's hilarious to me all the excuses being made for this guy. So what if he does numbers, I think this proves that he's willing to cut corners and be dishonest when selling.

How many of his 9.5's are trimmed or manipulated? Is that not a valid question now?

I know a guy who can get real cheap tvs. Too cheap. But he made a ton of money last year selling good ones, so I'll still buy the cheap ones from him.

Unbelievable.

My guess would be that if you treat your money like that, you don't currently have a thousand dollars to spend...

Hey everyone, Mike has always been a stand up guy with me so there is no way he would scam anyone.....

Come on man, as Chapman said, this kind of cold calculated move is not an accident. He knew exactly what he was doing with the intent of increasing his profits thru some shady actions and you want to defend him????

You go right ahead and keep dealing with this guy, guarantee most wont go near him ever again.

Perhaps I'm jaded, Mike, in my line of work, but it doesn't surprise me to see ANYONE do ANYTHING. It wouldn't surprise me if Brian Gray or Panini or Topps perpetrated a fraud regarding autographs, it wouldn't surprise me if any user here did something fraudulent.

All one can regulate is their own actions, and you have to be able to look at your wife and kids at the end of the day and hope you're providing a good role model for them to look to, and that you can live with what you've done. If your reputation is worth $200 -- as Mr. Cancellaire's apparently is, then so be it.

Now, let's turn the tables. Is there a chance the auto is real? Sadly, I don't think so. Say what you want to about Topps, and they will make mistakes, but I can't recall seeing a misnumbered card like this. They would make too many (multiple red refractors - more than 5), but I've never seen an orange refractor #ed to 500, or a refractor #ed to 10. These were in such small quantity, I suspect they were treated specially and not allowed to populate with the other refractors. Further, as Mr. Cancellaire posts here so frequently, I find it hard to believe he wouldn't post here when it was originally obtained.

I hate to convict without the defendant putting on a defense, but apparently, he's pleading the 5th, and the circumstantial evidence is NOT on his side.

Calm down. I am sure Mike will respond when he has a chance. Ever think that Topps made a mistake with this card and Mike did actually pull it? Just give the guy a moment and then form your opinions.

Feel free to check some of GatorboyinTN's posts. Especially right around the time he got banned.

You were supposed to say you don't have time for his tomfoolery and that it was graded prior to today and that he can look at it in person at the Denny's on 10th St on Sunday when you are having the Big Slam with eggs over easy.

Warren ... he chimed in. My first few posts all said "Let's give Mike a chance to respond"

Evidence has been presented. It's up for debate now.

Well if he wants to see it, I'll buy him some bacon.

I have no opinion as of yet, because I haven't heard Mike's side. Topps has been known to make mistakes, Arcia may have inscribed it himself, Mike may have done it to scam someone. I simply don't know, and neither do all of you. What I do know is that is Mike's very long history of being a stand up, trustworthy guy. That has earned him the benefit of the doubt. Again, I'm not saying he didn't do what is alleged, I'm just recommending we all let him address this after this weekend.
