Cards like this and their lack of moral accountability is why I've cracked out 10+ Ohtani cards out of 9.5 slabs, mostly true gem or better. And to be frank, I've sold off all cards that I believe were overgraded. I found a back crease in a 9.5 sterling ohtani RC auto once and I immediately sold it. It's crazy.

Having a period where they hand out 9.5s for everything along with the black label scandal screwed over a lot of people that put their faith in them.

Beautiful! Bowman platinum is one of those sets where I wish I gave it a break for being retail only and collected. Looks like you cleaned up the last decently priced finest parallel too! Nice work

Wanted to gauge those Ohtani collectors that are still collecting. With prices creeping up are you still buying the cards you are interested at higher prices? or have you finished your off season buying and going to ride out the season. Haven't seen too many deals lately! There is nothing I am specifically looking for other than a good deal!

I am still buying Ohtani cards, I just keep changing what I'm targeting since usually if you find a good deal for a card there aren't many more of them out there. I'm still searching multiple times a day to see new listings and have had good luck with finding underpriced BINs or auctions that are about to end low.
I feel like this will be a huge year of Ohtani cards due to WBC and being a contract year he will be in the news all year. Can definitely already see the tides rising across the board with his cards so it's just a matter of staying ahead of the curve/finding the next undervalued target. I keep thinking I'm done with my off-season purchases but then I'll see a deal and I'm right back.

I remember when I had I listed this on Ebay as well as on Blowout for
$3000 and no one was interested.

There are certainly less deals now, but still deals to be had if you're willing to squint a bit. Rare RC autos and SSP market are pretty much wiped out and all listed higher now. You should be asking yourself what's next to rise.

There should be a logical answer to this me thinks...non flagship SSP's, flagship SP's, non-flagship SP's and numbered cards. Like going down a ladder! At some point I will be rich when all those cards are in collectors hands that don't want to sell and demand reaches all my base cards

Indeed, also don't forget those serial numbered / Holo Panini cards. Was enjoying the long run of those being cheap...getting costly now for sure. I started collecting Ohtani with PJ cards in 2018 since I was broke at the time I just wanted rare cards of Shohei, didn't care about the license. I had to wait until post 2019 to get good deals on his rare Topps cards.

I actually like the prizm and optic cards. I have a bunch of prizm and a few numbered cards.

Unfortunately, I didn't start collecting cards until Covid and I was late to the game with Ohtani, not buying until 2021. But I have been buying continuously and amassed quite a low to mid end collection!

I am seeing some value in TC 150 #d parallels pop up here and there. That's not an area I'm chasing since I have enough, but it's a good search to set up.

There are also some more obscure parallels that are going to get their due. Think Ginter X, Ginter Mini EXT 352, Update insert parallels, and even stadium red/black foil.

By the way, i can't be the only person trying to price that Transcendent Icons 10 PSA 9. I don't need it, but those are such rare birds that I have to throw my hat in.

I thought I had a great chance at PSA 10's for my 2019 Topps Rookie Cup black and camo. Figured with a little luck maybe the 2018 Topps Update Indy too.

All 3 fine 9's. Oh well.

Congrats on the PSA 9 700 Indie! It's a tough one to grade, no shame. Still a big card.
