Give it a rest, veterans are not the issue. And shame on you for acting as if a large number are drug addicted. Should be ashamed.
Dig into the VA and their over prescribing of opiate pain killers, which they have desperately tried to cover up. Veterans are coming home f'd up and for a long time the VA's answer to everything was "here's a massive bottle of oxycodone, all fixed". And people wonder why vets are coming home and getting hooked on heroin and committing suicide.

Even with the delay, I can't wait for the next WikiLeak info to come out. Hopefully it hits both the idiots.

You don't pay your tax bill or your accountant gets your liability down to 0? I have been 1099 in the past and my CPA would help get things down to almost nothing based on travel expenses.

I agree with you, it is a serious issue, but to be fair, I don't think Cruisers point was that it wasn't a serious issue but rather that addicted service members are a very small part of the drug addicted community so you can't treat all addicts like they are good to go since some are service members suffering from PTSD.

I think there's another channel many people don't think about too. In my job I talk to people everyday, and get to know most of them on a personal level and the most surprising thing is the number of people who get addicted on pain killers through serious legit health problems. Whether it's back pain, disc issues, knee, shoulder problems or whatever. I have a bad shoulder myself and suffer from chronic shoulder pain, but I've been fortunate enough to gain some help from cortisone shots and don't have to take meds but make no mistake about it people can get hooked on these pills in a skinny minute when they didn't ask for the pain and never intended to take the drugs. It doesn't make it ok but many of these people aren't just "pillbillys" that got hooked because they just wanted to drug it up.

Exactly. And when you work for yourself (as I do) you take every single write off you can within reason as not to break the law. The thing most people are wanting to say is Trump broke the law. No he did not. He took losses on his "failed businesses" and was able to cover his taxes on his thriving businesses.
Quite frankly it's smart business, when you have as much going on as Trump you can afford to take chances on businesses that might not make it. It's just a loss, and it covers expenses somewhere else.

Yeah, there's a huge difference between owing taxes and not paying (Wesley Snipes...) and using your money to hire the best accountants that know all the ways to get your tax liability down to zero or close to it.

I agree that Trump should get his liability down as low as possible. That is 100% smart business.

Co-sign. Also, there is basically zero chance that Trump files his own taxes or makes any decisions related to them. The loopholes are the problem, not the people taking advantage of them.

The only relevance Trump's tax returns have, to me, is that I don't think they will show that he's a great businessman, so much as a guy set up in a difficult-to-fail situation (who, as I've said before, did at least have to work to take advantage of that situation).

Can we get the name of the loophole(s) he uses to not pay taxes?

Usually their is a title for those loopholes, anyone know the name of this one?

I've actually taken the stance that I would rather see his tax returns because of the potential and probable conflict of interest issues that will arise if he gets elected. Personally there's a lot of issues that could be easily put to bed if he releases them. The issue of him being a good businessman, the issue that he probably broke the law by illegally spending money in Cuba, and the various links that his people have with his businesses in Russia.

The more I read about Trump the more I see how much help he had starting out his business from his father. Money is one thing, but his dad personally backed/guaranteed his loans. As someone whose a full time real estate investor that is way more valuable than money. Getting money is easy, qualifying for loans is much harder.

There's probably hundreds of loopholes he used. The biggest one that the latest document leaked that shows the $900 some odd million loss is what's called or referred to as tax loss offset income or capital loss offset or quite a few other names. Basically it allows capital losses to be carried over and count against income in future years. The below article from WSJ has a good breakdown of how it works, how he was able to use it, and how he probably got into the situation of showing a 900+ million dollar loss.

I'm sure there's plenty of loopholes in a tax code that is 70,000 plus pages.

rudy said trump is a "genius" and also claimed trump is audited "every year" and no revenue authority (federal, state, city, international, etc) has ever brought a charge of any kind or had a bad word to say.

so the idea that trump is risking some kind of legal jeopardy by releasing the returns is negligible at best by the admission of trump's top sycophant. (boy the pictures trump must have of rudy...)

and if those returns truly made him look like a "genius" who believes that trump would follow his lawyers advice when his campaign advises him daily to not look like an idiot and he ignores them? bottom line, he is hiding something. that billion dollar loss isn't it, and it is bad for his campaign. odds of seeing those returns before election day are on par with the odds for winning the powerball jackpot 3 draws in a row.

I honestly think he doesn't want to release his returns because of what the media response will be to them. They will pick it apart for days and his campaign will have to respond to every question. I can't imagine how complex it is.
