If he didn't go unblocked they rarely if ever double teamed him or threw a chip at him. Thats bad coaching along with not changing up the offensive play calls to get the ball out quicker and using Mixon a bit more to slow down the pass rush in the first half. They finally did some of this in the 2nd half and they were able to start moving the ball and made the come back. The season isn't lost yet in Cincy, they are only 1 game out of 1st place but they have to get that O-Line and Burrow to gel quickly.

It really reminds me of the first few years with Andrew Luck and the Colts, literally as soon as he hiked the ball he had defenders in his face, same thing going on here with Burrow.
I will preface this by saying I think Burrow will be fine, but a lot of these sacks are on Burrow...while also having really poor OL play.

Small sample size and all that, but it was a similar story last year.

“I just think people know how to adjust to us now,” Chase said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I feel like we need to learn to make more adjustments in game. Everybody knows what we’re going doing to do now. So everyone knows what to expect when we play.”

Happens to seemingly every young QB. The league gets a book out on you, and it's time to adjust.

To me it looks like he needs to drop another step or two, he's always getting pressured up the middle. Seems to always be in the muck.

I'm not sure how many people are saying he sucks.

But I think it's totally fair to critique his play these last two weeks, especially in the bigger context of some of the trends we've seen out of him over his career.

Im right there. He definitely doesn't suck. My point is...he's most likely not going to live up to the pumpers & investors promised/advertised dreams. He will be "fine" Im sure. But "fine" doesn't cut it in today's hobby investment world. Ive got NOTHING against the player. The Herbert investors had their moment. It was orchestrated beautifully with the super high price tags at auction (just before the season started) + he's played well. Burrow doesn't have either of those hobby momentum pieces. So at the first sign of playing well, the swell of circle jerking will be very strong and furious.

Joe is going to be fine.

Overreaction is the name of the game now. Two bad weeks with a bad Oline and bad HC.

Agree completely. As a Bengals fan I’m trying to be a little positive and remind myself both these games went about as bad as they could go and we were still a score away from winning. Would love for Taylor to be gone after this season but that’s probably hoping too much, maybe he’ll at least be aware enough to realize he needs to give up calling plays.

Can’t be worse than Matt Canada.

Only worse Canadian is k13.

It was easy to see why this team was as miserable as they were in Sept.

Hopefully Taylor learns a bit from his missteps. I think the Bengals are still going to take the AFCN, probably running away towards the final 5-6 games and can easily challenge the top teams in the AFC. This is still a really good team.

Being this high on Burrow and the Bengals since early in the season makes me feel a little dirty yo be honest.

This thread has been a fun read back though. Mahomies flooding the place early should have been another flag that Burrow is legit.

Goes into snowy Buffalo (with Hamlin at the game), and just walks all over the Bills as 6-point dogs. This guy is something else...so is that defense.

The defense is scary because it really doesn’t have a player that you can scheme for to just take out of the game and make it more manageable. A ton of really good players at every level.

Nothing like the NYJ to retain some get back.

Fins up next. Win that and the firecrotch committee's back in business.

12 TD’s 1 interception in his last 5 games. Love Joe B. Only QB I’ll pump despite not having anymore of his cards lol.

Offense was humming yesterday and that was classic BrrrR.

They really need to win the next 3 before the bye. Josh Allen, Mahomes are coming.

I think we are seeing the inflection point. The Bengals have a fairly good shot at being 8-3 heading into a big matchup with the Chiefs. Their next five games are against Atlanta, Cleveland, Carolina, Pittsburgh, and Titans. They may slip up in one of them (Atlanta and Tennessee won't lay down), but the offense is returning to form and giving Burrow a bit more time to throw. The defense still needs to work out some kinks, but the road over the next few weeks looks smooth.

I think it was a big early season over reaction on the team, partly due to the Coach.

Burrow coming off a surgery
Completely rebuilt Oline
No preseason work

Surgery #1 / the rust amazing how many week 1 this year couldn’t get that through their noggins. The complete overreaction just gave made me chuckle.

To be honest, at week 1 they were a complete mess. The idea was they could get better but Taylor put them in a really bad position.

I think this team is great. But Taylor is not a good coach. Hopefully he learns or all this talent is going to be wasted big time.

Id be shocked if they win every game. They will lose 2-3. Book if.

3-3 is nothing to be proud of. Well, Rodgers and Brady are also 3-3. So is Lamar. Good company I guess.

I didn't say anything about the record but I was talking about Joe B, who has clearly improved with each game.

Long as Chase is healthy, they always have a chance.

Unreal how the Saints ended it on busted man coverage. How on earth you play him shallow is beyond me.
