Looking rough.
But he's clearly not up to form yet, and hanging onto the ball too long. I'm not giving up on him yet, though. I do recall everyone and their great grandmomma saying Josh Allen was a squandered draft pick after his first 2 seasons.

He also coaches other guys: "You're talking about a true champion in Joe Burrow," Palmer said. "When you're talking about confidence and maturity, he's up there. I don't like ranking guys that I've worked with, but in those two categories he's up there. And I just think it's the killer instinct. He's just not interested in anything other than beating the other team and killing the other team. I think if this guys in the military, he's the guy that gets to pull the trigger on the number one SEAL team at the biggest mission. That's the guy that they give that mission to. It's his personality, it's how he's always been. And also what I said about behaviors. This is a young [Tom] Brady in terms of his behaviors—his nutrition, his routine, his approach to the game." Mainly just adding this bc that SEAL quote is the gnarliest compliment I’ve ever seen ![]() NFL and cards esp going to hammer our emotions so again, totally get the reactions on him after today. |

Welcome to Blowout. Where every semi-positive remark about a slumping player means you're the Shyne150 of kardboard kuntiness.

I see people saying he holds the ball too long but thats their offense, they want to move the ball down the field with Chase, Higgins, and Boyd. What I see more than anything was very bad Offensive line play and coaching. Playing arguably the best pass rusher in the NFL in Parsons how can you continue letting him come in unblocked? If he didn't go unblocked they rarely if ever double teamed him or threw a chip at him. Thats bad coaching along with not changing up the offensive play calls to get the ball out quicker and using Mixon a bit more to slow down the pass rush in the first half. They finally did some of this in the 2nd half and they were able to start moving the ball and made the come back. The season isn't lost yet in Cincy, they are only 1 game out of 1st place but they have to get that O-Line and Burrow to gel quickly.
It really reminds me of the first few years with Andrew Luck and the Colts, literally as soon as he hiked the ball he had defenders in his face, same thing going on here with Burrow.

The amount of times I heard some yell NaJEEEEEE every time one of his cards were pulled is incalculable. Hyping his cards up like it was some massive hit. One of the reasons I stopped watching breakers for background noise and now watch people speed run Resident Evil games.

“I just think people know how to adjust to us now,” Chase said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “I feel like we need to learn to make more adjustments in game. Everybody knows what we’re going doing to do now. So everyone knows what to expect when we play.”
Happens to seemingly every young QB. The league gets a book out on you, and it's time to adjust.

To me it looks like he needs to drop another step or two, he's always getting pressured up the middle. Seems to always be in the muck.

But I think it's totally fair to critique his play these last two weeks, especially in the bigger context of some of the trends we've seen out of him over his career.

Im right there. He definitely doesn't suck. My point is...he's most likely not going to live up to the pumpers & investors promised/advertised dreams. He will be "fine" Im sure. But "fine" doesn't cut it in today's hobby investment world. Ive got NOTHING against the player. The Herbert investors had their moment. It was orchestrated beautifully with the super high price tags at auction (just before the season started) + he's played well. Burrow doesn't have either of those hobby momentum pieces. So at the first sign of playing well, the swell of circle jerking will be very strong and furious.

Joe is going to be fine.
Overreaction is the name of the game now. Two bad weeks with a bad Oline and bad HC. |

Agree completely. As a Bengals fan I’m trying to be a little positive and remind myself both these games went about as bad as they could go and we were still a score away from winning. Would love for Taylor to be gone after this season but that’s probably hoping too much, maybe he’ll at least be aware enough to realize he needs to give up calling plays.
