Edit: I see it’s an insert on the checklist. Can you get these from hobby and retail packs? What’s the rate?
I didn't pull Wilson but I pulled a Gold from my hobby box.

What's the point in collecting if you're just going to buy a sealed set? None... I'll save my money.

You made my point for me, it's silly to pay $460 a box to build the set - the exact reason I stopped collecting every other football product last year except Donruss. This year it will be no football.

Probably people who struck out this morning and getting FOMO.

Wonder why they’ve essentially axed the red card exclusives the last couple weeks.

Ummm, because a sealed set is the same thing as a set you put together? You cant be a collector, if you bought a set VS building one? Makes no sense to me.

Sure, building a set can be fun. But a sets a set, and if anything, a factory sealed set is worth more than a hand built one.

Again, as I said, save your money if your intent was to build a $50 set by buying $500 boxes

That may be the only way to open this product - retail style. When/where did you find them in the wild? Someone cracked the one and only box of Donruss Hobby I received from a distributor and it absolutely sucked. I don't think he could get $20 back on the box and that's not an exaggeration.

Nobody is buying this, its market manipulation with the perception it is popular, courtesy of the big 3 and having mastered the internet sales tactics.

Tempted to buy a box of H2 at my LCS for $199 a box. No idea if that's a good price or not but I just have this dying itch to break something, get nothing in return, feel bad about my buying decisions, stop having the itch to open wax for the next 3-6 months, and then rinse and repeat.

I just don’t like the product. I did one break but I’m done. Different likes for different people I guess. Can’t imagine spending that kind of $ on a box of this.

Agreed, it isn’t the best product. But IMO, it’s the first true retail product that most people can afford that has the rookie in their nfl jerseys. Plus, if you’re chasing the case hits and cool inserts.

Bingo! As the way it’s been with most wax and especially retail wax. A classic case of setting high prices and trying to create a floor for these prices to stand on. And some people are dumb enough to take the bait and purchase (gamblers and breakers).

what is the point of the optic preview cards ? not sure if these have existed in the past but is it simply a new paralel ? so when regular optic comes out you wont be able to get the green ones ? also will the regular optic release maybe have alternate photos ?

Exactly... some people just don't get it.

The point of collecting a set for me is not in HAVING the set, but rather in the enjoyment I get from BUILDING the set. A purchased set is meaningless to me.

Seriously, read what you write. You sound a little insane.

Do you have to build it from Hobby boxes? Retail has base too.

I get Astros sentiment. I used to like to build sets by seeding it with a hobby box or two, then trading duplicates to finish it off. Maybe from the hobby boxes I pull a couple nice cards for "higher" end trading. To mc1's point, past couple of years I've avoided the hobby box and picked up blasters to do the same thing. I get enjoyment from building the set but not at robber baron pricing.

Heck if one was solely concerned with set building, you could probably offer $10-20 to people in the box breaks section for all their base plus the lesser rookies shipped. Then pick up singles/lots off eBay for the rookies.

That’s the beauty of the hobby. People can partake in different ways. I’m not at all a set guy but I can definitely understand how some people might enjoy putting a set together manually.

There’s a place for everybody. Even dudes that solely flip retail.

They had them last year and photos were different. Not sure about other stuff though

So the guy's "insane" because he likes to build a set (and thus collect) a certain way? Wow.

I was wondering the same thing. Based on pop reports from last year, I was guessing print runs of around 20-25. The Marvels insert is one of my favorites throughout the year.
