The gambler/breaker mindset is that you can open almost 14 of the worst boxes possible (even at these inflated prices) and still pull a card that covers them all if you use the $5k number I threw out earlier. It really isn't all that crazy when you look at the big picture. Because the truth is, those 14 boxes aren't all going to be the worst boxes possible. You will open most of them and recover far more than that. So in reality, when you factor that in, you can actually open around 25 boxes (at inflated prices) and still have chance at a card that covers them all. The math works, even if most people's pocketbooks do not like it. And for the record, I do not chase the hits like this. Just showing what many others are thinking when buying these. |

Way too much sorting, listing and shipping.

Hence the reason so many people make so much out of it. Others think like this and don’t think it’s worth their time. I have calculated a lot of low end breaks like this, and the hourly rate is many times over what most people can make at a job by listing $3 cards. Way over.

agreed 100%
in past years they looked different than the normal rookies and base cards, it was like a more zoomed in look for the rated rookies if memory serves now they all look the same, with just Rated Rookie in top left corner |

It takes time to get the kinks worked out and become really efficient at it. But again, that’s why everyone doesn’t do it and the ones who do make great returns by doing it. I don’t necessarily enjoy it, but there is something to be said for buying $50 worth of cards someone is dumping as a lot on eBay because they think they are junk, and I make my next months truck payment by breaking it up and listing individually. Best returns in the hobby.

Looks like the retail blasters are starting to be sold. Does anyone know of any other retailers other than Walmart that are selling them?

Buy a factory sealed set from Walmart for $40. Or preorder the deluxe set with 5 Optic Preview Rated Rookie Holos for $250. |

Little surprised the factory set with the 5 Optic Holo Previews isn't more than $250. I hope it already increased by $50. I'd expect at least another $100 increase before release. Especially with Express PSA subs on the holos in solid condition, producing 4 digit sales if they Gem out.

How can you get a gold Optic Zach Wilson from Donruss? Is that a factory set parallel? I don’t see Optic on the list of parallels.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CTrvS0VA...on_share_sheet Edit: I see it’s an insert on the checklist. Can you get these from hobby and retail packs? What’s the rate? Last edited by IlliniBear; 09-11-2021 at 11:09 AM. |

Absolutely makes me sick to see that my Herbert Gold BGS 9.5 did something like $2500 during the hobby free fall in May-June That’s what makes me skeptical about buying any of this stuff because football releases will be coming hot once a week until fanatics takes over. Comparing SV of Herbert Butrow Jalen and Tua to this years class is eye popping. Either this years class brings up comps of others or this years class crashes hard with more supply…history typically shows the later

Heck K'Bryan Hayes sells well too. And I say Pache sells well for someone who has been utter dog crap in the majors and IMO has no hitting tools to be a stud at the MLB level. Defense, sure, but not hitting.

I lucked into a supply of 12 blasters at retail yesterday.
A Walmart that's part of my "circuit" that has (had?) a max of 2 trading card items had a cashier that really DGAF. Asked for my 2 and the cashier said "sure you don't want more?" I said, "I thought the limit was 2". He said, "I don't think so let's try" and with that I took 10 more. ![]() Anyway, a QC heads-up to anyone buying blasters - The pack layout is 8 cards, with the Rated Rookie (or the kid's reporter trash) on the back. I unfortunately had 2 blasters (out of 12) where every pack with the Rated Rookie as the back card (and not the kids reporter thing) had a completely frayed side edge. Imagine cutting a piece of cardboard with a pair of scissors. That's what the edge looks like. I can't imagine it being an issue at the press because then why are all the other RR edges good? I was confused. Only RR of note that I tossed into the damaged pile from this was a Zach Wilson. Otherwise, made out decently. RR-wise, 2 Trevors and a clean Zach. Fields and Brady Gridiron Kings. Fields Elite Series. Najee Harris White Hot Rookies. Herbert Out of This World. Pitts Rookie Revolution. There's an average of 1 Red Press Proof per blaster. Had no numbered parallels. Unfortunately, didn't hit a single Optic Preview. A bunch of the inserts look very nice in person. (Gridiron Kings, all the Revolution cards, Out of the World, Power Formulas). Fun rip. |

Grabbed 6 x Blasters for 43ea. Once I get them and crack them I'll report back with pulls.
Honestly, Megas and Blasters are the way to go. Grinding out the process of posting cards and selling them is the only way if you want to crack boxes. |
