Rick Sutcliffe on Twitter (1hr ago): "I don't think I've EVER seen a guy go 4-4 in the 1st 4 innings of a game until today @KrisBryant_23"

https://twitter.com/Sut_ESPN/status/581948628056444929

Does anyone know where Bryant is playing today?

The Kris Bryant decline is going to happen sooner rather than later. There will be some big drops. I mean the prices are utterly ridiculous right now.

I tend to agree but I've been saying the exact same thing about Trout for two years now and it hasn't happened. I guess it depends on your definition of "sooner".

Trout is literally going to be one of the best players of all time when it's all said and done. And he has the marketplace demand which other great players lack.
His cards will always go up barring any major injury.
The guy has won MVP, AS MVP, and runner up twice, throw in ROY, 3 silver sluggers and you get the idea.

Kris Bryant is a .280 hitter (at best) and will hit home runs who cares. (For example, Rizzo is a much better hitter - but no hype behind him)
Abreu is a better hitter than Bryant will probably ever be, but it's the Cubs factor keeping this guy's cards overpriced.
The prices of the refractors, blues, oranges, reds are just flat out retarded. $1000+ for a refractor? EXCUSE ME? It's a joke...
Once things cool down and he is hitting .240 with 12 homeruns people will start getting a grip - look back and realize how ridiculous these prices are - this i am certain of.

Imagine if he put up numbers like Trout....he can't.....he won't....

Trout is beyond the shadow of a doubt a sure fire lock as far as investments go.

But Trout has delivered in every way possible in his first 3 seasons, minus a WS appearance of course. 2 runner ups and an MVP. I doubt Bryant hold anywhere near that kind of water in his first 3 seasons but that's why we are all here, to invest each in our own way and see!

Don't get me wrong, I agree with all of this and am not trying to compare the two players, only playing devil's advocate against an absolute statement. Also, Bryant doesn't need to be as good as Trout for his values to stay up, The Cub market will offset a lot of it.

I agree that Bryant prices will fall considerably but that doesn't mean that it is a sure thing. Trout could have won three MVP's and I still wouldn't have believed that his base BC auto would be a $1,200 card. I no longer am surprised by anything that happens in this hobby.

The 3 players I would invest in are: 1) Trout 2) Trout 3) Trout

I also think Puig has a chance to elevate his value. He is just a flat out 5 tool stud and literally the only comparable player to Trout as far as talent goes (McCutchen not far off but he doesn't have the marketplace appeal)

Ability is only a small factor in peoples card prices going up.
People are still waiting for Harper to stay healithy, I doubt he ever will unfortunately.

Kershaw seems safe, one of the best pitchers of all time. Trout too...and then Puig. That's my 3.
I wish I had $50k to buy that Trout Red Chrome!

Not sure why the centering got hit, that was the deciding factor in buying the card. Figured that sub was a 9.5 or better.
I'll take it!

I think Trout is a horrible "investment". His cards are already sky high and have almost no room to grow. They are already priced as if he is going to be an all time great. I think they actually go down considerably in value, happens to everyone. Look how cheap Pujols sells for and he is a top 20 player of all time.

I think a lot of it also depends on what kind of player Trout wants to become. If he doesn't start running again, he is just another talented slugger a la Bautista and nobody is talking about enshrining Jose nor paying $1k for his RC. Trout's value was in his all around game but without the sb's, that value is considerably lower. I'm actually selling all of mine as we speak. Not that I don't think he is one of the best players in the game, I just know better than to think his prices will stay this high regardless of what he does on the field.

I'm saying I think Bryant peaked...the hype is bananas. I'm not dismissing him but he would have to play flawlessly to maintain this value. Any stutter step and people will shy away and move onto the next big thing. A power hitting 3rd baseman is not a big deal.

I think Puig has Hall of Fame ability. Plus he is a lightning rod of controversy. I think his cards have cooled off and now have a high ceiling if he delivers like he is a capable of

A-Rod was a sure fire lock as an investment before he was popped for steroids. Ken Griffey Jr. was a sure fire lock as an investment pre-injuries. Nobody is a sure fire lock as far as investments go.
