I started my defensive PC last season. High end NT, Exquisite, contenders, SPA and chrome. I enjoy a huge sack as much as a TD.

I am having a blast collecting Bob Sanders. I also like that there aren't 3000 different cards to get, skill position guys will have more to acquire, but more availability I guess from the glass half full department.

to piggy back on this- if your guy wins DROY, good luck

also, it helps if you PC a guy that has meaning to you. Luke played his HS ball here in Cincy, so I PC'd him for that. If I didn't have that "tie", i'd have cashed in and sold everything the minute he won the DROY.

Collecting Proven Defensive Guys isn't very risky (They are either cheap ... or the players are superstars and will maintain value) ...

VERY risky and a terrible investment going after unproven defensive guys though - if you're just in it for fun and not money, collect players you like though

It was a perfect storm when the 49ers drafted Patrick Willis.

My brother and I got back into collecting in early 2007, and when the draft came around we started off with Willis PCs. We've had PCs come and go since, but Willis has always remained.

In my view, I find it difficult to start a PC unless you begin during the player's rookie year. It just gets hard to backtrack when you're a year or more into a player's career.

I always love collecting Defense players. So far I have side PC of Urlacher, the Trojan Terror ( Matthews, Cushing & Maualuga ), Kuechly, Laurinaitis, A.J. Hawk,Greenway, Posluszny, Chris Long, Zach Thomas and Harrison Smith. It’s still fun and cheap. So definatley an win / win situation !!!

I have several P Willy autos. Being an Ole Miss fan it was awesome that he had that many cards his rookie year. Dude is not only a beast, but a super nice guy. Met him at the Senior Bowl. I could not believe how shy he was.

THIS is why I hesitate and may start with another player besides Tamba Hali. Sure I like him a lot, but based on my research many of his best..most limited cards are stashed away in collections already. I will be doing a defensive player, just not one that has been in the league for 6-7 years!

Even though Curry has been far from a star so far (holding out hope ) I've had a great time PCing him! Although, he is a lot different from most defensive players with all of the cards he has.

My Ed Reed collection has been growing since Christmas of 2010. I've managed to get 47 different rookie cards, 27 autographs, 51 game used including 2 1/1 shield cards. Plus several numbered and insert cards. I know that sounds like a lot in just over 2 years however, I've spent countless hours searching for his cards on forums and other websites. It's been a challenge since he doesn't have the cards many players have. I've had to pay a lot of $ to get several cards, since many of them don't show up that often. And I know of 2 really big Reed collectors both have better collections than mine, so it's harder to collect him. If I started another defensive player pc it would either be Demarcus Ware or Patrick Willis. It's definitely more fun collecting defensive guys.

Well, now I know why I'm never able to win any nice Reed's when they pop up. At least I'll always have this:
