Default Would you PC a Defensive Player?

I am thinking about starting a PC of a Top 5 position defensive player and was wondering what experience you guys have at doing defensive players. I have noticed that defensive players have FAR fewer autos than offensive players so I was thinking it would be easier/less expensive.

Go for it! I PC Von Miller (headaches right now with possible 4 game suspension) and it's been great. He's in most products, has nice patches and autos in most products, and a few low #ed cards to chase in 2012. Hope they don't keep him out of print this year after whatever trouble he's gotten into.

Could go either way. If it ends up being a player from a popular college, you might have more competition than you anticipate. It will definitely get expensive at some point. Either you're going to be chasing after a very low numbered card, like a 1/1, or low numbered auto and somebody else will need it for a set. At this time, you have to decide if you really are going to PC a defensive guy or if you're just happy with having a majority of his cards without breaking the bank.

I still have my PC of Darren Woodson. The missing cards are mainly 1/1's that a collector in Texas would always outbid me on. It reached the point we'd just email about who had what and who needed whatever low numbered card was listed on feebay... so as to not cost each other money. I never competed on the 1/1's. He was willing to pay absurd prices. However, I still have everything of Woodson that is /5 and up.

To me its not about value when you have a PC.
You have to like the team or player to PC them.

Absolutely. I prefer collecting defensive players over offensive guys (except QB's) - I'd much rather go after guys like Watt, Suh, Willis, Haden, Matthews, Peterson etc...over the giant bag of whatever that usually ends up being the RB or WR positions other then a select few guys that really are all world players.

More bang for your buck.

Just a few I've picked up recently - and spent less then $150 to get all of them

Absolutely. I have a modest Gilmore and Bradham PC. I'll definitely add Kiko Alonso this year. Good luck!

I am a big defensive football fan so I love PCing defensive players. That being said it can be hard... Most of the time they are cheaper than offensive players but on the flip side they just don't make many auto cards of defensive players outside their rc year. For example Justin Smith on the 49ers hasnt had a jersey card or Auto made since 2004 despite making the pro bowl 4 years in a row from 2009-2012. It took London Fletcher 11 years for his 1st auto to be made. Geno Atkins the best DT in football and to some the best defensive player in the NFL had 0 cards made his rc year in 2010 and 0 cards made in 2011... he made the probowl in 2011 and 2012 but again they have 0 mem or auto cards made. I can go on and on about probowl defensive players with 0 autos this is why they really need an all defensive set

Kind of surprised by the response. the majority of people seem to always want QBs, RB and WR and a few sprinkled here and there that do the biggest defensive names.

The guy I am considering is from a big school, Penn State and plays for my Chiefers. Mr. Hali. I kick myself everyday for not buying his 2012 Chrome Super when I had the chance a few months ago.

If it interests you then go for it!

I PC Kuechly and I have loved every minute of it. It can get quite pricy if your player has a loyal college fanbase, such as Te'o this year and what not.
