What a year he's had so far. This type of year will only garner more respect for him because at his age and with his injury profile the last few years, it's easy for guys to just go thru the motions and just take their foot off the pedal. Not Trout. You look at other guys who I will not name, go through injuries and they don't have the same pop anymore. Not Trout. it's a testament to his will to be great.

He's a lock for 500 home runs even with a lockout next year imo.

They let Ohtani walk for nothing. The Angels should trade Trout if it is a baseball decision. Trout is the draw to get people to the ball park. Place will be dead if he is gone. The choice seems like:

A. Keep him, hope he stays healthy, market him hitting career milestones on bad teams.
B. Trade him, get some prospects, take the hit in attendance now hoping those prospects get the team competitive.

The obvious answer to me is to trade him and rid themselves of his contract. This isn't Derek Jeter with a handful of rings and glorious championship moments that tie the bond together. No, this is a chance to drop some contract weight, get young and build for the future. This is as no brainer as it gets.

Speaking of the yankees, trading for him would be enormous. Trout, Judge, Bellinger, Rice, that's a tough core right there.

Typically you get prospects or salary relief, not both. If you’re the Angels which do you prefer?
If and only if Trout maintains that 1.000 OPS in late July can you consider both. IMO

I like this year's version of Mike Trout...but it has been a rough couple of years.

He has become a slugger who has good speed on the base-paths who walks and scores a lot. His hitting with runners in scoring position is not desirable but performing better than the previous seasons.

At one time, he was MONEY W/RISP, in the last 4 partial seasons : 46-212 .217 with hardly any power. He reaches base effectively but he use to drive in runs.

He might have even given himself some trade value, given his contract, injury history, and decline. It's a definite high-risk situation for whoever decides to trade for him.
