This thread still going?

Honestly, I feel like Giannis is probably on his way to becoming an afterthought in the league. It seems like the NBA is looking to promote the younger players now, and the long-time veterans like Giannis are taking a back seat. He didn't get traded this season, so it's a lost season in terms of title contention.

Ok since you're not going to bother backing up your claims, I'll do it for you. Here is a breakdown of Shams reporting on Giannis since last year:

Quote:
May 12, 2025: Sources: Giannis Antetokounmpo to explore best fits outside of Milwaukee

The two-time NBA MVP has not made any firm decisions on his Bucks future after the franchise's third consecutive postseason exit in the first round, but, for the first time in his career, Antetokounmpo is open-minded about exploring whether his best long-term fit is remaining in Milwaukee or playing elsewhere, league sources told ESPN.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...fits-milwaukee
Doesn't confirm a trade or hint at being traded away, just states he's open minded according to sources.

Quote:
October 7, 2025: Why Giannis Antetokounmpo's future in Milwaukee is far from settled

AS GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO grappled with his Milwaukee Bucks future this offseason, general manager Jon Horst made the 6,000-mile trek to Athens, Greece, in late July for a face-to-face meeting with his franchise's cornerstone star -- the 2021 NBA champion and Finals MVP....

...Ever since the NBA draft combine in mid-May, Alex Saratsis, an Octagon managing director and Antetokounmpo's U.S.-based representative, has fielded rampant interest in Antetokounmpo and conducted serious due diligence on best possible outside fits should the star and his reps push to be traded from the Bucks. Several teams were discussed internally, but one emerged as the only place Antetokounmpo wanted to play outside of Milwaukee: the New York Knicks, multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation told ESPN.

The Bucks picked up the Knicks' call on Antetokounmpo, and the sides engaged in conversations for a window of time in August, league sources said, but the teams never got traction on a deal.

The Bucks insisted to the Knicks that they preferred not to move Antetokounmpo, but those in Milwaukee believe New York did not make a strong enough offer to continue even discussing a trade, league sources said. It's unclear how the Bucks would have responded to an all-out chase by the Knicks. The multiweek process was described by one source with direct knowledge of the talks as an exclusive negotiating window. New York, for its part, believes the Bucks never were serious about entertaining an Antetokounmpo trade, sources said.

Both teams have differing claims. Goes on to quote Giannis about multiple things, no straight up announcement of a trade though.

December 4, 2025: Sources: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks discussing future

Giannis Antetokounmpo and his agent, Alex Saratsis, are having conversations with the Milwaukee Bucks about the two-time NBA MVP's future -- and discussing whether his best fit is staying or a move elsewhere, sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

A resolution to these talks is expected in the coming weeks, sources said, which will shape whether Antetokounmpo is available ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

Discussions about future doesn't mean he's being traded, no confirmed trade announcement from Shams once again.

January 29, 2026: Sources: Heat, Wolves, Knicks, Warriors among Giannis suitors

Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline, as several teams have made aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks, who are starting to listen, league sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

Multiple teams have received a sense that the Bucks are more open than ever to Antetokounmpo offers between now and the deadline, league sources said. However, Milwaukee has indicated to interested teams that the organization is not in a rush to complete a move and is willing to navigate Antetokounmpo's future in the offseason if its believed price point of a blue-chip young talent and/or a surplus of draft picks isn't met, sources said. By waiting until the summer, the Bucks could also see which teams are able to offer more appealing draft picks in June.

The Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors are among the serious suitors for Antetokounmpo, league sources said.

Sources said Antetokounmpo has informed the Bucks for months that he believes the moment has come to part ways after 12-plus years together, making a trade increasingly possible. The Bucks, at 18-27 and 12th in the Eastern Conference, face significant questions about their future direction, which has led to open and honest conversations between the two sides.
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...de-amid-offers
Here is where Shams commits to his sources. However, he states "making a trade increasingly possible" as well as multiple video clips of Shams clearly stating that giannis is ready for a trade now OR in the offseason.

Quote:
Febuary 6. 2026: The Milwaukee Bucks have indicated to teams that they are keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo through the trade deadline and will start making other trades, sources tell ESPN.
...

Here's what I think. I think people like drob have fallen victim to fake accounts using shams as sources in their fake trades. In other words, you're gullible. You went back to look for those and realise Shams never actually posted them. We need to be better at fact checking and doing more than just reading a headline and making judgements off that.

Giannis will be another example of all time talent that didn’t have an all time scenario. Unfortunate but he did bring a title to Milwaukee and that was impressive. Middleton and company won the ecf for him with the series tied 2-2 and they beat a flash in the pan suns in the finals but he was deserving. He didn’t get rattled going down 0-2 and the bucks won 4 straight. Giannis averaged 35/13/5/1/2 on an efficient 62% from the field. Brilliant finals.
