Suns have wildcard Ishbia. Jazz/Kings/Wizards/Nets fit the bottom dwellers with cap space to rent. Sounds like it’ll be one of the last group for half a year/buyout, then he signs a much-less-than-max deal someplace else. We may have entered the D’lo journeyman stages of Trae’s career.
It was working. It's just unfortunate that Porzingis' POTS was supposedly under control and turns out it isn't. Trae, JJ and KP played all of 42 minutes together. Trae, NAW and KP played 18 minutes together and held a +18 net rating.

It sucks that KP's health was such a make-or-break situation, but here we are. It coincided with Trae's unhealthiest season and Coach Snyder's losing the clubhouse and that's all she wrote. I don't blame Trae for asking out when ownership is balking at extending him. Anything to save the billionaires' bottom line. I won't be going to any more games until Ressler sells the team.

It's not a lull, they're 5-5 after Chris Finch went after the refs and called them out for their bullshi*. They'd been getting ridiculously friendly whistles all season, extended from the playoffs last year. This is what they look like when that whistle suddenly isn't there. They are talented, they will adjust, but they are far from unbeatable.

Bobby Marks confirms the pick talk is Wizards posturing for a better deal, but he thinks Trae signs an extension in Washington, so I’d be 1/2 here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFbuN51GZi8

That is a miniature sample size. You think Synder’s lost the locker room? I’m not that keyed in on the Hawks, but he seems like a good coach. Never been a Ressler fan. Lots of talk about paying the luxury tax but then always gives players away to get under it. Sucks for Porzingis, seems like the only professional athletes whose careers survive POTS are swimmers.

Cmon man...

The Hawks have tried every single player and coach combination around the guy and it never worked. There was no indication that it was working this time either.

Trae on the court this year the Hawks had a 129 defensive rating. With Trae and KP it was 130. Trae and JJ was 131.

Trae's defensive on/off is -15. There is absolutely no way you can claim it was working.

In all this time you still cannot accept the reality that it's not possible to make up for his defensive deficiencies. I get it you're a Hawks homer but Trae just isn't it and the Hawks will be significantly better without him.

Luckily for the Hawks, after drafting one of the worst 1st picks ever, JJ has turned out to be one of the best players in the NBA.

Snyder has been refusing to even answer basic tactical questions about defensive scheme because he's trying to force the Hawks to run what he was successful with in Utah, which uh, kinda doesn't work without that Gobert guy, especially if KP isn't playing.

And it's been kinda noticeable that players are giving up on him. Way different vibe than how they started the season.

Were you not around for the '21 ECF run? That was proof of concept right there and this team they assembled was better on paper. I'm hardly a Hawks homer, I've watched hundreds if not thousands of hours of more Nuggets ball than I have Hawks over the last half-decade. If they aren't fun to watch I don't, it's pretty simple. This year started out way different, first time since '21 that I watched double digit games. It's sad how quickly it ended.

And speaking of watching, did you enjoy that trouncing vs the Raptors the other night? JJ sucks in the half court as the "point", especially against teams like the Raptors because there's almost no size advantage he can exploit. All his "good offense" is in transition and any decent defenses absolutely clamp them whenever they want in half-court sets. His decision-making leaves a lot to be desired and he does these weird jump passes way too often, the more tape opposing defenses have on him, the worse it's going to get.

Clinging onto a lucky playoff run from 5 years ago is definitely a strategy....

Injuries… I got it

The idea of the Cavs trading Darius Garland is so gross

Dude is so special if he can stay healthy

Lakers going to wind up back in the 2 seed shortly. West seems so wide open right now.

I get minutes restrictions but what are you accomplishing by saving an extra minute?

29 points on 61% shooting, 6 assists, 0 turnovers.

7-7 in the fourth quarter with 2 assists.

Boy, it's amazing what this guy can do when he gets to run the offense.

Sources: Hawks' Trae Young has Wizards as top trade destination

Have the Wizards ever been anyone's top trade destination? Lol

Sarr telling Atlanta not to draft him only for Trae to join the Wiz is a hilarious development.

I get it from Traes perspective. He can go collect 300m while chucking shots on a team that won’t matter. Easy money and no expectations.

But why would the wizards give up anything to get him? He doesn’t help their future in terms of building towards a title contender. He makes them a solid play in team. Why ruin the tank and maybe lose your top 8 protected pick?

Well, it is the Wizards... I'm not even sure they are a play-in team with him.

I thought they could be a playin-ish team this season but alas they are just trash again.

They aren’t his top. This is media cover

No one wants him so he has to shorten his list of destinations

I don't think they have to give up anything to get him. Probably expirings and maybe 2nd rounders? Also, even with Trae, I don't see how they fall out of the bottom 5. It's going to be a Top 8 pick, and even then, based on their recent results, it's not much to look forward to.

The Wizards have now made Corey Kispert (left hamstring injury management) unavailable for tonight’s game at Philadelphia. CJ McCollum was ruled out earlier today.

They're only 3 games off from the 9th worst record, and then 5 more teams within 2 games of that.

They absolutely could fall out of the top 8 with some extra end of season tanking from other teams and some bad luck.

Plus you give up CJ on an expiring and your cap flexibility for a guy who's not going to make you win and is going to want a huge extension
