Thanks all for the feedback. I think I’ll hold it for now and enjoy the card. I have collected comics since the 90s and somehow this became my most valuable collectible

I do think what a nice vacation it could be too

Me and my wife are planning a vacation to Colorado in January. Sure would be nice to have a card like yours to help offset the cost lol.

Those are some really, really nice Spider-Man cards…..would make a centerpiece to any 92MM Platinum collection. The Spidey art looks great on these parallels.

How much does centering 55/45 affect grade.? -.5, -1.0?
Like 10s so not sure if this is within limits. Thanks

It likely knocks it down 1. So PSA 9 tops and then any other flaws knock it down further.

I agree…looks more like a 9 to me assuming it’s clean. But PSA grades can unpredictable so no guarantees. Beautiful rare card there

Hopefully will spur some people to buy some blasters to get more purple crystal vc’s out there.

Can’t believe how little hit the market anymore.

it could have gone a lot higher (or lower). the winner placed 2 reinforcement bids so it could have been bid up quite a bit more, but also was bid up to that amount by a 1 feedback account so *shrug*

Dang..$86 from winning the Spidey? Bummer, sorry. Of course as spaceman said no way to know what that top bidder’s max bid was, could have been a lot more.

Pretty solid sale at 4k usd on that. Gem Mint 10 no doubt helped. I know a few people looking for that card big time…wonder if any of them won it.

You may have dodged one honestly, depending where you are. That card being in Canada could be hit with a massive tariff going to US at $4k value, depending on 1)which carrier sender uses and 2)how they fill out the customs info.

Well not a Spidey, but a recent pickup, one not seen much. This one is the alpha 01/25

A few pages back someone asked what it would go for. I said 4k. No way I pay that. Anything over 2k is madness for these cards imo. Image dropping 1k on a case and getting Night Thrasher. Such a huge gamble. Still a cool card tho.

Tempting, but think I'll pass haha. As cool as it would be to hit a Purple VC, I'm focusing on putting together a regular Purple Crystal set. It just makes more sense to pick them up off COMC & Ebay.

Frankly to get any purple vc, even night thrasher is on the better end of blaster case examples, since apparently many cases have none at all. Can you imagine dropping $1000-1200 with no numbered cards coming out of it.

It does say something that the unquestionably best card in the product, Spidey vc /25, in PSA 10 no less, goes for $4k when the case is going for like $1200 after tax etc. Less than 4x for the very best card to hit is probably not a great ratio. I do think the tariff situation could have scared off buyers with that spidey though.

I had to pay way up for that night thrasher, in no other universe would a common /25 in marvel cards go for the amount paid. The draw of 92MM platinum I guess. I think there’s basically about 3 or 4 people propping up the market for purple vc’s…without some of us buying, the prices on them would be more like $100-200 for them.

Makes a *ton* more sense to get the purple set from singles. Prices for all of them are pretty generous lately too.

It does seem only appropriate Purplesaurus gets a purple set

I agree they will drop some once set collectors complete theirs. I look at these as a base price of the orange lava. I think the purple vc will settle slightly to moderately higher since there are 50 total orange lava per character, and the purple vc is the only one numbered. I think demand will always be greater and keep the prices north of the orange lava.

Of course if these continue to stay in retail cases we could see prices jump even higher.

My cut off is $500 for one card, and even then it has to be something that really sticks out. I typically won’t go over $350. To me anything over $1k would have to be a rare special purchase.

I got myself the 2024 Marvel Masterpieces '92 Platinum Complete Variant Cover Rainbow Set 1V-100V and me and my wallet are perfectly happy with the "not-so-fancy" background

I agree…in theory the purple vc’s should do better than the orange lavas for the reasons you state. I think there is a bit of a retail exclusive intrigue in cards too, dating back to the 1994 Marvel Masterpieces bronze holofoils and 1994 ultra x-men retail inserts. The purple vc’s stand out more than the lavas since it’s like the only major thing you can hit in a whole product- entire retail print run is based around it, while the orange lavas are just another #’d parallel to hit in hobby…although a very cool looking one.

Couldn’t say if there’s anyone else actually going for a whole set of them….it really is an almost absurdly dumb project. Especially in this climate with so little coming to market.
At like 12ish more….sigh. Could be like 2027 by the time it’s completed
