New rankings are up!! How far did the mighty (Penn State, Texas, Florida State) fall? Can 5-0 Navy finally get some AP love? And did Massachusetts break into the top 25 after keeping it close against Western Michigan? Let's find out!!
Biggest Gain: A whole bunch o' teams gained 5 spots in the middle of the rankings. Missouri, Michigan, Notre Dame, Illinois, BYU, Virginia all gained 5 spots to #'s 14 through 19. If we look at "Others" then Memphis gained 6 spots from #29 to #23. Biggest Loss: I needed to break out a calculator for this one. In the top 25, Iowa State fell 8 to #22 and Florida State fell 7 to cling to #25. Looking out to "Others" Texas fell 18 spots to #27 but your big loser is Penn State who fell 21 spots to #28. Ouch! Best result for a loser: The "best" result for a team that lost was Vandy, who slips 4 spots to #20 after losing to the now-ranked #8 Crimson Tide. Worst results for a winner: Oklahoma beat Kent State 44-0, and fell 1 spot in the process to #6. Also notable is Oregon who fell 1 spot after having a bye as they swap spots with Miami, who is now the #2 team in the nation. And if you look waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out in "Others", we see Navy show up at #37. In a strange quirk of fate, only 35 teams received votes last week so essentially Navy was in a 100 way tie for #36 last week and dropped a spot. And Auburn shows up at #39 after receiving a single vote this week after a bye when they didn't get one last week. Last edited by Fenway55; 10-05-2025 at 01:48 PM. |

don't underestimate the Ga/Aub game in Auburn at night. Could end up being a trap game for Georgia who is feeling good coming off Kentucky and moving back into the top 10. They lose 1 more game and they will be joining Texas, Penn St. and Florida St.

FYI: There are rumblings in Chestnut Hill that Bill O'Brien and Penn State may be interested in each other.... I am not 100% sold on that notion but I definitely think it is intriguing enough to mention....

Frames Janklin may have finally outlived his welcome? That would be interesting. Like you, I'm not sold on B'OB but at this point I can appreciate that PSU fans are ready for a change.

He just is completely incapable of taking that step into the realm of championship contender, a realm Penn State has not visited in quite some time. |

The following tweet is making the rounds:
Per sources: Bill Belichick has discussed buyout options with North Carolina’s hierarchy. Belichick has signalled a willingness to trigger his own $1 million buyout if he can find a soft landing with another team or in media |

What really good NFL coach picks a random ass college team that no one cares about? Does he still have Ronald Curry and Dre Bly? He should have gone the Matt Patricia route. Take a DC job. Don’t say it’s “beneath you” and just say you dominate because you “love Football” It would have been an awesome story Then you figure out if you really want to Coach again as a HC
