That's an incredible copy of one of my favorite inserts ever, congrats. Def in my top 10. I still haven't sent mine in but I'm super curious what it would grade.

Damn, that's an amazing little streak. Did you keep the Kobe? I opened 2 boxes of 97 Finest with a friend years back, highlight was the regular Kobe silver ref.

Thanks, I still need a couple more of his EC Golds to finish the run.

Just so happened to stumble across a 96-97 Chrome ref with great color not long after the 97-98.
If anyone's got a 98-99 or 99-00 available, let me know.

I know this set has always been one of the more popular inserts, but it took a while for it to grow on me and actually pick one up.
There are more subdued lenticular inserts, and then there's this. Reminds me of a literal bike reflector, or like it was lined with 3m visibility strips.

An interesting detail from the designer herself is that they didn't want to add stock underneath the lenticular layer to make it rigid/thicker, otherwise they'd be detectable in packs.
Which I get, but it makes you wonder why they had no issue doing it with previous lenticular cards inserted in standard thickness sets, like 96-97 Fleer Thrill Seekers, for example.
Maybe they just learned their lesson by the time Thunder was released. Anyway, as a result of using only a lenticular layer, they're fully bendable.

Previous lenticular cards weren't die cuts is likely the reason.

Are you thinking there would be a gap you could feel in the middle of the pack due to the diecut? Assuming it wasn’t inserted on the front or back of the pack, that would probably be even easier to detect.
