Noticed in the ToppsNow WWE offerings this year, the parallels now replace the base card. Wonder if that will be the case for baseball too?

This is not new.

Definitely the case on card 3 from this year:

Edit: Looked through cards 1-7 and all have the above text. Did find Off Season cards like this one containing the "addition" text.

But does appear to be the new norm across TN products: Bowman U, Formula 1, etc

Same for MLS cards and it's gonna happen for baseball. Need a BS in Mathematics to figure out the true PR over the years (they did this for the 2020 season I believe).

Then they will add SP and SSP cards here and there without knowing exactly how many they make of those...PR of base cards will be impossible to figure out. Yay, Topps/Fanatics.

Seems like it should be easier to figure out the true PR? I guess if you're talking about base cards only, you just apply these modifiers:

Under 50k: subtract 91 & # autos/relics
Over 50k Under 100k: subtract 240 & # autos/relics
Over 100k Under 250k: Subtract 281 & # autos/relics
Over 250k Under 500k: Subtract 371 & # autos/relics
Over 500k: Subtract 372 & # autos/relics

Or are you thinking there will be 1:20 variants as well this year randomly peppered about?

It was simpler days when the PR was exactly how many base cards were made.

The variant/SP/SSP are in the Sasaki/Ohtani/Yamamoto card....also a Zaha MLS card #6. As far as I know, Topps has not revealed exactly how many of these (which also replace the base card) are to be issued...where did you get the 1:20?

It all depends on what you consider valuable: how many of this exact base card exist, yes easier. If you see a /49 parallel as basically a base card like some bizarre occurances of PRs of 300 then ... IMHO no, it's not valuable to have a PR of 297 and think there's only 297 of those cards ... There wasn't ... well, now there will be. My point is the lower the PR the more valuable the concept of PR is -- or at least it seems to me to be that way.

I seem to have made up the 1:20 ... perhaps conflating Throwback Thursday with the kanji variations they sometimes do for Ohtani, Ichiro, etc. Topps should really publish those odds on SP/SSP for sure.

Opening Day cards are up. There's gotta be something to how some cards are $5 and some are $6.50 each if you're ordering 20. Rookies get a better deal for cards or is Topps just overcharging for those guys?

Yeah started last year with Jackson Holliday I believe but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been big on Topps Now for the Cleveland cards since it started. I've got all the sets. But I think I'll pass on the opening day set. Just seems like robbery at this point.
