If we are going by pictures, the Wemby to get would be the silver select courtside. It ranks right up there with the Anthony Edwards mosaic Genesis.

Let's face it, wax is underpriced.

The genesis really pops on this card. It looks amazing in person. Picture probably doesn’t look as good.

No. It wasn’t mine. I saw that. There is also a raw green shimmer out of china ending today… It is currently at $3k. Seems the hobby has decided deca is right up there with prizm monopoly. The industry has made so many products just to make more rookies of him… luckily the Australian sold for full price BIN right away, so I’ll just leave mine on eBay for a ridiculous sum until his performance has people coming back to this set and appreciating it for what it actually is. A hobby only set with very limited parallels and the most important part is that it’s licensed.

What’s the consensus so far, statistically he isn’t doing better than his rookie season but only a handful of games were played so things can still change for the better.

Picture looks like tar mix with crest. But nice card. How many Genesis they printing these days? Was surprised when I did a pop of 20-21 that it looked like 60 or more.

But if he's not wow-ing ppl on a regular basis (and he's not right now), the hype machine is quick to move on.

But yeah he needs to pick up the pace as the Spurs as a team are light years away from playing a meaningful role in the postseason.

The only thing special about his game is his defense. He is an inefficient scorer. He cannot shoot a jump shot. He cannot shoot the three ball. He cannot play in the paint. He has good passing skills for a big, but he’s not special.
He is a recipe for hobby disaster unless he develops a three ball and wins multiple championships.

If we're talking about his actual game, He's going to be scary if he stops with the long 2s and goes with a more efficient free throw line area jump shot like a Dirk. Or a bank shot like Tim Duncan.
He takes far too many bad shots. Quick 3s that don't go in. He is also the main threat on the Spurs, if they can put a squad around him in the next 2 to 3 years they'll be fun to watch. He has an all around game already. Just needs to get better. When he takes rythym shots he looks great in the offense.

Wish there were angst-filled threads for Kobe and MJs second seasons floating around.

First few years of Genesis were at least 200-250 per player. Whole lot of retail broken from 19-20 and 20-21. Might be lower print run now.

Kobe was the 13th pick in the draft and not even a starter his first 2 seasons. Jordan was the 3rd pick in his draft. Wemby would have been the 1st pick in every draft for about the last 20 years and was considered to be a once in a generation player. Pretty big difference on hype levels.

MJ broke his foot early in Year 2, but still came back in time to help the Bulls make the playoffs where he dropped 63 on the '86 Celtics. Kobe had hardly any pressure on him his first couple of seasons (partially bc he was playing with Shaquille) and the Lakers were at least relevant/in the playoffs. But I'd imagine the best time to buy Kobe was after he shot all those air balls against the Jazz in the '97 Playoffs.

But his 91% from the stripe is typically a leading indicator of future shooting potential, but not always necessarily the rule. I think the bigger picture is....even if he rises to put up Porzingis-type offensive numbers and %'s for the next few years, it will be a disaster from a hobby standpoint. Heck, even KAT type numbers will. Both tremendous talents, but the hobby does not always necessarily correlate to realistic developmental expectations. Kobe had the benefit of 2 years bench time along with having been the 13th overall. MJ put up 28/6/6 his rookie season. By year 2 Fossil was averaging 27/7/7 and had the Cavs just narrowly missing the bubble back when play-ins weren't an out. Yannis was a mid 1st rounder whom most viewed as a super speculative blue chip prospect.
