2024 Summer Olympics Cards from Topps?

I also don’t think boxes are going to go below $100. The next few months may be the time to scoop up boxes with the rush to open during the Olympics over. Between the Chrome name and the limited on card autos, I’m guessing enough demand will remain to keep these in the $150-$175 range for a while until boxes start drying up. After that, who knows.

At $1200 or $2200? Obviously these are still good at $100 a box, I said earlier in this thread I’d still be buying them at that price.

I seriously think Topps is making a huge mistake if they don't come out with a Chrome golf set very soon. Make it fairly limited and have the big names as signers, and you have a set that will sell huge.

Would love to see a TC golf product. Really interested to see how the Panini LIV product ends up as well.

I ordered some of those Topps Now cards (at a shot of the parallels) before hearing about the auto announcement. I know I won't hit any auto(s) but I'm a little more excited to receive those cards now.

Since you missed out on the pre-orders at MSRP, and they'll never return to that price, the next best time to pick up boxes is now. Why? People are getting their boxes in from various platforms and there's some undercutting going on (primarily due to inexperienced sellers thinking that the product will tank or bulk buyers who are OK with making small gains per box [because they buy bulk and make small gains on each sold item, recycling that money into other items, they make massive profits over the year]). If you think people are going to stop ripping the product after the Olympics, I don't know what to tell you lol.

The likelihood of landing a sealed case for $1500 or below is quite low (nothing is ever impossible) but you might be able to pick up 12 loose boxes for that price (even lower with a local cash/FF deal). For dealing with eBay sellers, the best approach would be to identify a low-priced and reputable seller with a bunch of boxes and offer them 90% off-eBay via PP goods (e.g., $140 on eBay => $126 per goods off-eBay). If they're a big-time eBay seller, they might not bite as they probably don't have high eBay fees, but a small-time eBay seller might as they likely pay ~10% eBay fees so they'd net the same with such a PP goods offer.

Holy crap, you ripped 10 cases (cases worth or 10 sealed cases)? If you ripped 10 sealed cases, where'd you get them all and how much were you into each for?

Yeah, I ripped 2 of my 3 cases and I'll make a very nice return when all's said and done (even with keeping a Ledecky Flag /76 auto).

It all comes down to price-point and substitute. Although somewhat of a niche product, the inclusion of some of your non-main Olympic athletes (e.g., Curry/KD/Xander) helps bring some more attention to the product, and there's not many other similarly priced products that offer as great of value as this (high floor and medium-to-high ceiling).

I haven’t bought anything yet but I have some saved searches on eBay. I still have a lot of boxes to open while working on my master plus set, which will include the refractor and pink parallel sets. I’m toying with going for a #/199 parallel set as well but haven’t decided.

I pulled my first Athlete Nouveau card yesterday. Only 19 more to go. I think I have three Chasing the Rings cards so 22 more for the set.

We are keeping a lot of track athletes cards. My boys run track and we were really looking forward to this release. It did not disappoint. We had so much fun. I think my boys will want to open a few boxes at Christmas too. We are keeping a lot of track cards. A few Xanders too. Maybe keep a couple Phelps also.

We’d normally open Topps Chrome Baseball but I can’t spend the money any more and getting tired of feeling like we lose all our $ on releases like that. This Olympics release is so loaded with so many great cards even though they left a lot of the track athletes we wanted off the checklist.

It’s been the product of the year for us so far by a wide margin!

I plan on putting a master set together along with trying to build all the tougher insert sets. I will also build a refractor set and have started building a blue refractor set. I just love how the blue refractors look, especially on the swimming and surfing cards. I'll also grab some autographs from athletes who most likely won't have any other autographs or very few. Phelps, Ledecky, Xander.

Keeping a sealed case and a US Flag (base) Ledecky /76 auto for the PC.

Keeping some other singles after I recoup enough funds from selling singles from my 2 cases + 8 loose hobby boxes + 3 blaster boxes. Depends on which ones are available but there’s a few I’d like to keep (but am OK with moving to recoup funds too).

Just bought a “big” card that I’ll either keep for the PC or flip, undecided on it for now. It’s currently in route though.

There’s a couple cards I want to add but hoping they come down more.

about 4 cases at $1200, and the others averaging about $1700-1800 per case.
