Has anyone watched his At-Bats since he got back? Is he flailing at the pitches? Bad recognition?

Is it just me, or is the baseball news ecosystem more charged up with trade rumors than ever before? It feels like I have been seeing Alonso trade pieces since January. Marlins content started around Opening Day. At this point I no longer read such content but still see a steady flow of it just in the headlines.

It does feel like the humans haven’t told the AI engines to make Luis Robert stuff just yet though.

Not a bad player to gamble on in a trade. Have to hope he stays healthy and cuts down on the Ks. Has a very friendly contract with team options in 26 and 27. Cut ties after next season if it doesn’t work out.

His first game was good but the two games after weren’t, think it’s still coming back from injury and it should get better soon.

I just started to see some trade stuff for him. I think for seeing more trade information now is due to teams trading players who aren't in their last year of salary/control. Cleveland did it a few times with guys and with Soto being traded before his FA, teams see they can get a haul for an extra year (or more) of team control. It makes sense if you aren't competing for a title/playoff spot to move on from them, improve your farm and also get new guys in the Show to see how they do.

By doing this strategy, players are now being talked about when historically they wouldn't be until their final year of their contract.

Agreed and can have the compensation tied to performance/if you resign him (2 PTBNL and tier it off based on playoffs, if he stays healthy, etc).

Homerun #5, nothing much to say, last few games weren’t good and they lost again.

At least he’s finding ways to stay relevant on my fantasy team. I think he’s far and away the #1 player who could benefit from a change of scenery. I would like to see him in Baltimore or Seattle.

Completely agree, looks like Philly and LA have upped their interest but also hearing Guardians. Hobby wise Dodgers would be best followed by Baltimore and Philadelphia.

I wonder if he would be a good “culture fit” in Philly. Not saying he wouldn’t be, I just question it… he just doesn’t seem to match the personalities there. The Dodgers have the assets to move for him, so I could see that being good for both sides.

I'd say his personality is pretty much inert. I don't think he helps create or hurt culture anywhere he goes.

Know some Phillies fans would be psyched to get him, their outfield isn’t really productive so he could definitely help them, he could also learn a lot from players like Harper and Realmuto and I’m pretty sure they don’t have an incompetent hitting coach on the payroll . Also, both LA and Philly have good names on the roster so all eyes won’t be on him all the time and less pressure might actually come with better results.

How would they handle Luis and Julio on defense?

It’s actually pretty surprising how many games they are tied or ahead in the 7th. Oddly enough they aren’t as bad as their record suggests.

Yup, they have given away quite a few leads late in the game, they were discussing this on the last White Sox talk podcast.
