The Official Luis Robert Thread

Figured, Luis Robert will get his own thread eventually, why not start one now :p.

Being a big fan of Luis Robert, spring training that recently started with the first games scheduled for next weekend I can't wait to see what Robert and his fellow White Sox teammates will be capable of this upcoming season.

Will Robert crush like he did in the minors and make a run at ROY  ? will he indeed be the next Mike Trout  ? Only time will tell, what I do know for sure is that it will be an exciting journey :)!.

Feel free to post opinions, cards collections and other hobby related stuff, let's see if we can make this thread of equal greatness if not greater than the Soto and Acuna threads :D.

Thanks :flex:

Can’t wait to see him on the Sox. Sold my purple first auto a few weeks ago but will buy at least one rookie auto this year.

RandyB 02-16-2020 09:55 AM

Robert has all the tools. If he stays healthy I expect huge things from him. That Sox team is going to be an absolute beast if all their phenoms can stay on the field.

Series 2 will be a lot of fun with Adell, Pache, Robert, with possible additions of Franco and Kirilloff.

Cpdjoe77 02-16-2020 12:20 PM

I’d imagine topps would hold Franco to carry update. Already enough firepower for series 2

brothertona 02-16-2020 12:23 PM

I could definitely see that. I think there are a lot of collectors that have been eagerly waiting for Robert's debut, so I'm excited to see the hype around Series 2. This is just a hella fun year for baseball. So many storylines, so many fun rookies and 2nd and 3rd year players, I'm so stoked.

preakness 02-16-2020 08:00 PM

I don't think he will outdo trout career

cardozo 02-28-2020 02:57 PM

Off to a decent start in spring training :)!.

KSterner 02-28-2020 08:05 PM

Uggggh. Bought 2 BC 1st gold non autos for very cheap a while back. Submitted with jewcer and got psa 10s. Sold them for 500 each. Big profit % wise but I wish I would have kept 1.

RandyB 02-29-2020 05:49 AM

He's one of those players who can either crush a homer or lay down a bunt and use his speed. I remember reading scouting reports about him a few years ago. One scout said he was the best prospect he had ever seen. A true 5 tool player with exceptional speed and athleticism. I know we've all heard this song and dance with many flops in the past, but prospects like Robert are what makes prospecting fun imo. Unfortunately I own zero of his cards lol. I had a few autos but unloaded them awhile ago. Congrats to those of you who held onto your stash and best of luck!

Collecting White Sox is starting to get expensive.

cardozo 02-29-2020 04:33 PM

His first homerun at spring training :flex:.

No doubt about it. He has the talent, puts in a lot of hard work and already possesses the right mentality. It’s definitely going to be a fun ride.

Rotoworld: Prospect to Watch: Luis Robert

With the news of his extension and the fact that he’s likely to begin the season as the team’s starting center fielder, the 22-year-old made a mockery of three minor league levels in 2019, slashing .328/.376/.624 with 108 runs scored, 32 homers, 92 RBI and 36 stolen bases in only 122 games. He’s going to put up tremendous numbers across the board while winning the American League Rookie of the Year award.

These throwback Thursday cards look nice.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this guy has to offer. Heard a lot about him and to be honest he seems to have been flying under the radar a bit compared to other highly touted prospects. Might be because he's playing on the White Sox but regardless with him, Eloy, Kopech, etc. the White Sox are an up and coming team it feels like.

Just realized the reason so many listings I’ve seen on ebay of Robert 2018s 1st bowman, PSA 10’a and 9’s, are labeled wrong probably because you could pull a regular chrome from a mega box, but it looks like people submitted that as a mega parallel. Meaning the PSA 10 pop is smaller

Will opening day be his flagship rookie even though it's sp? Or will it be series 2 or update? Does opening day not carry enough weight in the hobby to be considered the true RC?

Im thinking the latter.....however if he takes off psa 10 cards from Opening Day might have great value.

hermanotarjeta 03-14-2020 02:27 PM

Does it bother anyone that he already has an official rookie card but has yet to play in an official Major League Baseball game?

Topps breaking its own agreed upon rule with MLBPA?
