Leaving it sealed hides any flaws and usually sealed copies have a mark on the back from the plastic.

If you can keep them both, I would, but I understand if you need to sell one.

Grading help requested please. I can peg something in 9.6 to 9.8 range. Not many submissions but my only miss was an ASM #300 that came back 9.4. This seems lesser, but I have no clue what to call it. I realize that no one can grade a comic without it being in hand. I ask that you assume I've revealed all flaws and provide the proper grade range. Any help is appreciated.

Hint of a fold mark. Does not travel the length of the book.

Indentation near Cap's chin.

Do not know what to call that mark near the staple.

Same fold mark seen on the reverse. Also note the left edge.

I'd personally give it a 9.2 - 9.4 but that would be including doing a press on the book that's needed. As long as you don't have color broken from the middle fold then a press will fix that issue other than that the spine clearly has color broken which is wear you'll get hammered on.

My guess was 8.5 to 9 0. I know squat about "pressing". Time to learn I guess.

Many thanks.

That definitely needs to be pressed. After that? Maybe a 9.4, best case. It’s the creases around the barcode that will hurt you the most since there appears to be some color break there. Most of the other defects appear to be pressable.

I am an older collector whose been out of the game for 25 years. Just grabbed a book here and there. Got lucky on this one and apparently the Iron Man #9 variant. Tried my hand at grading a few years back and while the results were good, this pressing and cleaning business is completely foreign to me. Likely cost me quite a bit.

This book and a number of others are likely candidates. As far as the UF#4 goes, I'd be very happy to have it in a 9.2 - 9.4 slab.

A reputable cleaner/presser will typically run you around $10 a book plus whatever shipping you incur. Not at all bad considering the value of some of the higher end (9.8/9.6) returns you could realize. There are several available on the KaptainMyke page on Facebook, as well as TONS of helpful info if you end up venturing down the rabbit hole yourself and pursue pressing yourself:

Don’t “clean” it. That gets dangerous, and if they do something they shouldn’t, CGC might flag it “altered”. Also, you don’t want to have it going through the mail more times than necessary. Just have CGC press it. It’ll be $15 to press and $20 for the grading. It’s all handled in-house and it’s only going through the mail once before getting slabbed. I deal with CGC all the time, it’s a smooth process. The website is easy to use for pressing now (used to be more complicated).

I was thinking that has to be the best play. No "altered" copy if they are the ones doing the altering. CGC (NGC) does it with coins too. I've just never used it. https://www.ngccoin.com/ncs-conservation/

I'm up to 8 books now. Getting too excited about this. Need to dial it back.

But how long does it take to press? That's the issue that many run into. I'd rather get the books pressed elsewhere cheaper with better results than send to CGC.

Start to finish it was close to 4 months for my last batch to CGC. I sent in a batch without pressing recently and it was under 3 weeks. What’s the rush though? And who says other places are better? I’ve been very happy with CGC’s pressing services.

How much do other places cost? Don’t forget you have to factor in shipping there and back.

it will be hot for awhile i believe but in the end i really depends what happens with the Miles character and if he makes it to live action movies or stands the test of time in the next 30 years.

ultimate fallout #4 is the next af #15. the 2 upsides about this character is his familiarity with current spider-man fans and the character's diversity to draw in more future fans. if we can somehow survive covid and watch movies at the theater, it's just a matter of time before kevin feige/sony starts to use this character on the big screen. tom holland is the man right now, but i would expect miles morales hype in about 10 years, lol. hopefully sooner but it just depends on how the stories align.

I’m surprised this book hasn’t seen more movement with the new Spiderverse movie out. I bought a CGC 9.2 in 2021 at pandemic prices and still haven’t broken even yet.

It's "treaded water" where everything else has fallen so is still "outperforming" the market (I've had one on my list and have been watching); still waiting on it to really drop but not sure if it will

Exactly. Was that a real question in this market?
The variant has went from a high of about $40k to around $35k now.

That makes sense. I wasn’t aware of the state of the comic market overall. I’ve only been searching for a few keys here and there.

Exactly. It’s still a key modern age book. Miles isn’t going anywhere and they’ll make a live-action movie about him one day too.

I was a long holdout on the market going down, but it has been for a while now. It's not crashing, just coming back to beginning of covid levels.
