Current price must be a joke right? 2022 boxes were $500 around release with far stronger checklist than this would have

I wouldn't be surprised if there's some market rejection here. I mean, I guess the product is pretty breaker-friendly, and that may ultimately prop it up, but the wrestling card market has cooled down a bit post-McMahon scandal, and depending on how many ripples develop as more info comes out etc., we very well may have seen the peak.

Maybe we'll get lucky and 2023 will dip to ~$750 at some point, which is the top end of where I thought it might open.

I kept some 2022 sealed and I'd love to grab a box of '23 to go alongside, but sheesh almighty.
i bought a case for $1300

Price on BO has been elevated to:

$1200/box
$3600/case

Someone has to be goofing off, right?

If they can get people to pay it, so be it. If oil barons buy them all up theyll get their money, but the commonfolk will never buy from them again. They may not care.

This really feels like 2022 Prizm all over again, which is a shame since I thought they had learned from that mistake. What will happen is the first couple weeks, the singles will be listed (maybe selling) for crazy high prices as people try to re-coup their money, then the sane people will just sit back and wait a few months until the market corrects the price is back in the $500 to $600 range where it probably should be (all things considered). Why we have to go through this process I don't know, it is what it is.

Curious what you guys think about ordering Donruss from sites before tomorrow, or if Panini is the way to go. I have a site I like but online stores may open cases and sell the boxes leftover from a hit. Still, no price on Panini yet.

My comment was made tongue in cheek. With how hot WWE has been though, I agree with you. Some price hike wouldn’t be out of the equation. But this is bonkers level. Speaking of bonkers, it’s about that time of year for me to bump the first WWE Prizm release thread from 2022.

My 2 cents, I think it hasn’t cooled any post-McMahon. I don’t think it had any effect, or correlation, with the market.

I don’t think we know how much longer Panini has this license either?

Actually people did learn their lesson. That is why the number of wrestling sellers at shows is pretty much the same as it was 3 years ago. Unfortunately the people at actually want the product haven't learn

Hopefully someone does some random player breaks so maybe I can scoop up some. Other than that it will be single hunting for me.

I'm starting to wonder if BO is beginning the process to sell the company. It follows a pretty classic pattern. Inflate a quarterly profit, inflate the inventory cost, etc. I mean this isn't letting the market set the price, this is setting the market price. That's why the process is repeating itself

In order for the hobby to correct itself, we would need a player to buy up one of the big 3 (established purchasing contracts) and then do what BO did back in the early days (just set a 15-20% markup on inventory only to drive sales). So here we have an article that says this box should sell for $500 at point of sale, so there's markup already there so for comparison the pre-sale price is $600. Unless you get a visit from the Panini customer service agents if you do that to "advise you" of the correct price.

Maybe we should pool our Powerball tickets on here.

This is terrible price jump. They are just MAKING UP THE MARKET.

Elite is overpriced, Impeccable is a RIP OFF.

Select is going to be $300-500.

Remember when Prizm sold for like $8-1200 for the original release..

Well they must be thinking, lets try it again, they'll buy anything!!

Eeach box better come with a Stone Cold / The Rock "Better figure it out" auto likee wtf?

Like I have said before, if Panini produced a 2023 NXT set after being away for 8 months to a year would people over hype the product like they are doing now

Been watching breaks of the new Impeccable NFL release, which has an extreme amount of sticker autos in a 2k + product.

If we get a similar amount of stickers in WWE Impeccable plus the same redemptions found in Elite it will just make the new price tag all the more comically awful.

Last year had I think two redemptions total and was otherwise all on card.

Just getting a terrible feeling about WWE Panini products in 2024...

Seems no matter low end or high end product the panini or fanatics will choose to go with sticker auto's as it's just cheaper and lazier to send a person some sheets of stickers to sign instead of making the cards ship the cards to the person and wait on the person to sign and send the cards back.

Another online shop has the price at $982.35 a box, and Blowout is down to $999.99 a box. Still out of my range for a box but going in the right direction?

This is going to be the Magnum opus of waiting for singles. $100/card. Riiight.

FOTL is coming on Thursday, the usual price drop method on Panini's website, starting at $1,500 a box. FOTL box contains an exclusive /5 Autograph. While obviously that price is crazy at least the FOTL bonus is a good one and not just a numbered base card.

It will be interesting to see what price it sells out at. If people are really pre-ordering boxes at $1,000 it shouldn't go further down than $1,150 or so, but I suspect the majority of card collectors think pre-orders are too high so my unofficial guess would be in the $950 range? I doubt it ever reaches the floor. I guess it just depends on when the breakers feel they can make an easy profit and buy them all.

Well the FOTL exclusive /5 autograph is very nice and a drastic improvement over the Stainless Stars non-auto thing they offered for FOTL last time.

A stark reminder, though, that 2022 Immaculate FOTL had the exclusive acetate auto /6 or lower guaranteed and those boxes floored at well under $500 in the dutch auction format on Panini's site. Just another point of contrast for how ridiculous pricing for this product is shaping up to be....

It replaces it. The listing for a regular box says five autographs, the listing for the FOTL box says "4 Autographs [...] and 1 FOTL-Exclusive Autograph #'d/5 or less". So unless they messed up their own listing, it replaces an auto hit.

Can't wait to see everyone post their hits that wasn't going to buy lol

I can't do it without a checklist though, you know the usuals but still no confirmation if surprises like Punk or Mcafee made it in. Also didn't know Impeccable doesn't have duals (I'm dumb) so I'm really hoping there's Immaculate as the same autos with just new photos etc doesn't excite me I was hoping for a chance at some new duals like Cody/Roman or something crazy like Bloodline booklet. Still top tier level of WWE cards but no solo autos are must have for my collection.

The lack of dual and triple autos in Impeccable as compared to Immaculate is unfortunate, but what really gave Impeccable a leg up last time was its relative shortage of redemptions and, as I recall, being completely 100% on-card with no stickers.

This year's pricing would still be outrageous even if you were able to promise the same consistency in quality as above. But I have a strong feeling there will be plenty of redemptions and probably some stickers in the mix. Folks are going to just get butchered at 1k/box.

Yeah, your post regarding last year's FOTL Immaculate pricing really sparked my brain, the floor is much higher if it even gets near it, there's no guarantee of a checklist or that there won't be redemptions/stickers as you said, and I remember a lot of the FOTL exclusives for Immaculate at least weren't that impressive, you weren't getting an Austin /6.

If anything I'll let others pay the premium for FOTL as I don't think it's worth it, then unless there is some easter egg to keep prices high, wait a bit and hopefully get a box for a bit cheaper as one advantage I have is if it's in-store not many in my area open wrestling, even less at those prices so sometimes I'll get a deal so an expensive box isn't there just collecting dust.
