I'm aware they will reauthenticate it and put it in a new sleeve and label for the buyer. I think he's actually using ebay's vault. I asked more because I took the scan of the card in their package. So if I removed it myself before I shipped they might say it wasn't as described because it didn't match the picture. I shipped it in their package. I asked here because a lot of Ohtanis get sent to ebay authentication center and thought someone might have had the same issue or had an opinion on it.

Ah, fair. I was actually only talking about the blue box, I was just assuming you'd leave it in the sealed card saver either way. I suspect the authentication people wouldn't care about whether or not it showed up in one of the boxes, but showing up removed from the card saver could be a big problem. Definitely better safe than sorry when it comes to the contents of the box matching the pictures as closely as possible.

That's what I did. I left it the blue box. Figured it was extra protection if anything. Thanks for the replies.

Picked up a huge Shohei rookie card for my PC the other night. I wanted one really nice one and I shelled out some series cash for one after selling a boatload of MVP buybacks. Cannot wait to have it in hand!

I don't even want to go there for at least another 5-7 years, but there's some sobering points here. Fun read

https://www.mlb.com/news/reasons-sho..._article-share

"The only other player in the 21st century to accumulate more WAR than Ohtani in any three-season span was Bonds (2000-02, 2001-03 or 2002-04)."

"And in this year’s Draft, a record eight two-way players were taken across 20 rounds -- twice as many as the previous four Drafts combined."

Just a matter of time. I’ll be shocked if he goes anywhere else. It’s always been the landing spot.

It mostly likely would have been the initial landing spot if they had the DH in the NL.

I'm just amused that there's been zero information leaked about negotiations. The best you get are questionable anonymous (likely made up) one liner comments that don't really say anything. Then you get five writers that create an article on it with a bunch of rehashed garbage. This has to be the most stealth blockbuster FA process MLB has ever seen. And I love it, cause there's nothing to talk about, which has been allowing me to get some great deals. I've spent way more than anticipated, but it's a wonderful time to collect.

There's stories out that Ohtani/his agent informed teams interested in his services that they must keep their meetings a secret if they want to remain in contention.

It's quite obvious it will be one of Dodgers, Mariners, Rangers, or Braves in about that order

The logical side of me is in agreement that the Dodgers are the most likely, but if there's anything I've learned about Sho, it's that he doesn't think like an American. The way he reads into things are not typcial. Therefore, we are not qualified to accurately predict his outcome.

The recently released documentary is a good look into his nature. It shows that none of us actually had any idea what was going through his head from 21-23.

That list is just based on teams that Ohtani would be willing to play for, not a list of teams that would definitely shell out $650 million for him. I'd take everything around the current Ohtani negotiations with a grain of salt, but it's quite possible they dropped out. Their owner has spent alot of money recently and there were open questions a month ago if he would spend what it would take for Ohtani.

There were a few, but the one that stuck out is the preseason talk he had with Maddon/Minassian about being unleashed with no limits in 2021. He took that as an ultimatum that this was his last chance to show them he can do both.

99.9% of us had assumed that he was relieved that stupid management would finally let him do his thing.

You can predict the ballpark outcome, down to a few teams, based on everything we've known up until a few months ago, including his last round of free agency:

1. We know he doesn't care about money.
2. We know winning is his #1 priority by a mile.
3. We know he puts tremendous value on a West Coast team.
4. And we know he does not like being in the spotlight as he was the only player in the MLB that was allowed to avoid regular media availability without penalty postgame and he did it alot).

What we don't know is if #4 is enough for him to avoid the Dodgers. Or if with the Mariners if following Ichiro's legacy is a positive or dealbreaker(if he wants to be the God, not sharing the role of God for a franchise). We don't know if #3 is enough to avoid the Braves with how well set up they are for years at #2. There are plenty of unknowns. But the main pieces to get down to a small circle of teams are there

I give it a 95% chance he ends up on the Dodgers and a 5% chance he stays with the Angels. Mainly because Arte knows that if he is in Dodger Blue the Angels become completely irrelevant and lose a ton of franchise value. I know Ohtani says he wants to win, but its one thing to say that and another to turn down a metric ton of money to actually do it.

Like if the French Laundry was willing to pay you $500k to be a sous chef, but then the local McDonalds countered with 800k to be the fry chef, you'd have to think about it.
