they are slowing down a bit with Bulk ... now at estimated 60 days.

In some ways good and the obvious bad.

Bad = We all want ours sooner
Good = The numbers have been increasing which is what we should all want which will help lead to the rise of CGC.

With the numbers increasing, hopefully they keep hiring and training. Bulk shouldnt be at 60 given their market position.

I think TCG may be 60 days, but I doubt sports cards are. The TCG graders are on overtime cranking out those PWCC orders.

My CGC submission still hasn't moved to the grading stage. It's been in their hands almost a month now. If I would have known they were going to take this long, I would have just sent to PSA. Oh well. Live and learn.

My bulk order I just received back last week took 34 business days to be delivered back to me. I am also including in those 34 days the week they had my package to check it in. 34 business days was longer than I was hoping for based on how quick I got stuff back in the past, but still no where close to 60.

When it comes to bull turn around time only, CGC is #2 to SGC considering only the big 4. PSA is 3 and BGS is 4 by a long shot. I use them almost strictly for PC, so their sportscard TAT is fair, of course we want it faster.

I hope so. My order just came back. Will get a post up soon with the highlights. Problem with the increased numbers is that it seems to be all Pokemon. I don't give two poops about Pokemon. How do we get them to be relevant on the sports card side?

Take this with a big grain of salt because it is small sample size theater and auctions to boot. The SGC auction likely got more eyeballs. Here is the crux of the issue for CGC slabs in the sports world.

Jimmy Butler Prizm base rookie. I had a SGC 9 and CGC 10 both in my watch list and they ended pretty close together.

SCG 9 got $33 with 11 bids
CGC 10 got $37 with 15 bids.

On the buy side, that is a great upgrade to get an "upgrade" for $4 dollars more. Sellers aren't going to keep doing that though.

Just for reference a week prior to those a PSA 9 and 10 sold for 47 and 122. Paying nearly 4x over a CGC 10 is just so silly. I would be happy to get the 9 (or CGC 10) for $33 and use the extra $90 for another card.

Do not sell CGC slabs, or any card right now, at auction. Always do BIN and just let it sit. You will get offers or messages on decent cards. The amount of people watching CGC slabs is increasing now and interest is picking up.

Was looking up some vintage cards on ebay this morning and was noticing that there were quite a few CGC slabs going for higher than PSA slab of the equivalent grade (minus 10's).

Actually sold? Do you mind showing your work? Getting CGC cards equivalent to SGC for vintage would be great good start let alone higher than PSA.

Here is one that I remember. 1981 Donruss Tim Raines RC

CSG 9 - sold for $39.95 on October 11th.
PSA 9 - sold for $32.50 on October 10th.
SGC 9 - sold for $27 on November 1st.

Obviously this is just one card and could be attributed to many things. But definitely caught my eye this morning.

Awesome that is good news for CGC. I am getting another small sub together. It costs less to regrade a card with CGC than it does to reholder an SGC card. A pretty big difference to.

The reason here is BIN and the CGC registry. If you let cards go to auction, it can be a disaster. Just list cards and be patient with BIN. Eventually someone will buy it or contact you with an offer. It is the only way I would sell on eBay. The days of letting it roll on auction is way too risky these days.

Not sure if this is going to be the case. CGC still hasn't moved my order into the grading stage after a month. My PSA order is in the assembly stage.

My order is a about half and half of sports and Pokemon. Not sure if that is why it is taking so long.

Bolded the reason. CGC has a backlog of Pokemon with PWCC. If you just had a sports card order, it would have been back to you by now.

Pretty sure the bulk of the recent backlog on the TCG side is due to the repack product that Sean Bassik is involved with.

Like you mentioned, sports orders should be pretty quick moving right now.

This order was marked as received on 10/25. Moved to grading/encapsulation/imaging yesterday and moved to quality control/finalized today. All sports cards, no TCG. Might have poppage soon.

Thought on the CGC office opening in Dubai? This COULD be a game changer.

I have no idea what to think about grading anymore. 1.5 million cards being thrown into slabs each month with interest in the hobby waning. I am buying more raw cards than ever and will grade some of them with CGC, but I don't see how grading stays afloat a year from now.

I think I have flipped on this. I think you are going to have a better chance of the 4-big graders doing 2 million a month consistently than it dropping down under 1 million. The caveat for me is I don't know anything about the Pokemon market and that is 600k? 700k? per month on it's own.

You are going to see more and more agreements between auction houses and graders for bulk deals. The other big shoe I expect to drop at some point is that Fanatics will partner with somebody and have exclusive/special deal type grading drops or whatever. Break with us and get a special deal to send to grader X right away.

Grading market is only growing at this point. Any kind of crash will cause one of the big "not PSA" to consolidate with another.

I gave up trying to give this any reasonable thought. I might as well predict we will be at 3 million a month, because all my thoughts of decreasing submissions have been dead wrong.

Just think if PSA did something nuclear and dropped pricing to $9. They would immediately get another tsunami of cards and be back in a 8 month back log. The other three companies would have to counter in pricing.

No reason to think they would since they are consistently getting 1.1-1.2 million as is. I would assume that is pretty close to their capacity.

Just an intake/processing center.

Will prob get some steady PMG/NGC submissions with this, but their sports submissions have dropped off and that's with COMC and another round of label change/re-holders
