Well its as heavy Id say as any 130 pt card, cant say I noticed a big difference tbh but never crossed my mind to feel for that lol I will say I can see how the surface would be very easy to damage though, luckily mine was very clean/no marks but wouldnt be shocked to see bad ones pop up.

Also in terms of print run of Metal X ..... checklist states.

Metal-X Acetate Holo Set Checklist
70 cards.
Overall odds - 1:240 Hobby/ePack; 1:6,000 Blaster.

So 70 Cards, they are a case hit so 70 Cases =1 players card?
If we knew approx how many cases now we could have our answer

For example 35000 cases would be a print run of /500, that right?

Anyone know how many cases made?

Not an exact science but I compared the number of Metal x to PMG reds on ebay and there are slightly more PMGs so maybe around /100ish?

Its so early still to tell but yes not many Metal X cards I see so far worth noting.

But to be just /100 that would mean just 7000 cases, which seems low to me, maybe I am wrong. I know the Jambalaya are 1:720 packs or 3x less (Metal X 1:240) so that would mean only approx 33ish of them total which again possible but seems low.

Wheres the local math whizzes in the know ?

Busted a few boxes and this popped out. I could use some help on values as I've only ever pulled low end McDavid inserts.

Probably up to 2k on that if you try to move it now. The “modern” PMG tend to decrease in price as more hit the market and especially after the season ends.

The latest “modern” McDavid PMG to sell on eBay was a 2020 McDavid Green PMG in his ASG photo (PSA 8) that went for just under $800.

I see where hobby boxes of this can now be had for under $60. Quite a plunge for what seems like a decent product and a pretty good rookie class (no monster at the top like a Bedard but Caufield, Zegras, Raymond, Byfield, etc.). Anyone have thoughts on that? Is that too cheap? Thinking of buying some just to keep sealed.

It was not a decent product. Hit rate was halved from 20/21 and the “hits” have declined in value significantly.

Ok thank you. Makes more sense now on why the big plunge.

A raw Caufield red PMG sold for $133.50 Oct. 4, that seems pretty low for a top product hit when its nearly impossible to hit plus a ton have been hit already (and some will be on e-pack), even at $60. It'll be a fun rip and you could come out ahead but a lot of the big cards have been hit already and I think this is more a case product if you're looking for value. Plus unless you plan on holding these guys for the future, maybe it's cause this is a hockey board but I think the value on guys like Raymond and Byfield are really exaggerated, neither are actually very valuable or coveted, most of it sits because people list over market value cause breakers convince them there's 5-6 hot rookies each year when there's really 1-2

EDIT: Just saw you said to keep sealed, I think that is even less appealing for what I said earlier in regards to big cards already being pulled + the inevitibilaty of PMG's going down not up for most + the BIG one, Caufield/Raymond prob more are redemptions in Skybox which kills it and may be a reason for clear-out so they don't have to deal with having product with expired redemptions next year.

Thanks for the thoughts. Yeah, was just looking at potentially a sealed case at what amounts to actually under $55/box to keep sealed. But, I've also already spent a bunch on 21/22 sealed that I'm way under water on so kind of hate to throw more money after the class. I guess I thought these didn't have autos where redemptions would come into play or at least that the main value is in the non-auto PMGs/other parallels that aren't autos. But, either way, if most of those big non-auto cards have been pulled, may not matter all that much.

Thank you for your input. I was looking too at discounted boxes of Skybox Metal. I purchased a basic Caufield rookie for about the price of a pack. Maybe it's a good idea for me of not getting more involved into the product.

I think this product has potentials to do well under $60. There are still enough Green/Red PMGs/Jambalaya/Autos/Platinum Portrait/MetalX of good star players and rookies in the physical packs. Main issue is the redemption expiring for Caufield.

I received few boxes today and plan to open them all. Don't want to get stuck with expired redemption cards later. I'll be buying some more to open.
