Charlotte would be a nice option. The convention center is 600,000 sq. ft. Was it considered?

Why are they so adamant against Vegas? Clearly gambling (Atlantic City) and West Coast (Anaheim) aren’t the issues.

This is why I like the Cleveland rotation. There is so much more space in IX Center. Perfection would be combining that into Rosemont.

I am fine with the Chicago, Cleveland, and AC rotation. At the end of the day, it has to work for the major dealers.

Location, Geographic’s, Financial’s and Familiarity. There’s probably a few more reasons why Vegas won’t happen.

Wonder how much of the decision for future places is based on the other major shows around that area? I mean I seriously doubt we will get a National in Texas given how huge the Dallas show is. A number of west coast areas are growing huge shows. The 3 areas listed now really don't have that issue although I guess maybe the Midwest Monster show could be one in the future. Although not sure if that is in Chicago or not

The only reason I can see them being back in AC is because they have a multi time appearance contract on it. While the convention center itself had no real issues (well except parking I guess), nobody seemed to enjoy the show in Atlantic City. And it isn't like AC is going to get better 2 or 3 years from now

Duke energy convention center in Cincy is 750,000 SF. However, as long as it’s not in Atlantic City I’m good with that.

Cleveland is great until the show floor closes

People will be shocked when they see how the IX center floor has been partitioned. The main room is probably less than half the original size. They will have to use the South Hall and basement to get the same amount of tables as before.

The answer is always Las Vegas. It’s not even close.

Really interesting that all of those big cities have a lack of floor space but Atlantic City has enough. But, I really do not mind AC but that is just a personal preference.

Chicago and Cleveland are relatively close but traveling to a different city would be fun too.

Based on random Internet research, with large convention centers, Orlando could be a possibility

There are several Strip casinos with a ton of their own convention space.

Yes, Sands and Mandalay Bay have large convention areas

There’s shuttles and Ubers. People will be fine.

The costs involved in people getting out to a Vegas or a CA location is why it'll never happen again.
That's why Burbank is trying to become the "West Coast National".

Atlantic City will only stay in the rotation at this point if they give up the space for anywhere close to free.

While there's a number of places that are big enough, they may not be financially good options for all parties involved AND they need to be willing to block out time YEARS in advance, which a lot of places are not willing to do.

Stop making sense. It’s almost like the National is a business with business people making business decisions. So weird.

The group that is running the National from here on out is on the East Coast.

Exactly, I've made my peace with it. There will be no premier show within driving distance or a short plane ride (Burbank will surely be another disappointment) and that's fine.

The old-timers and Charlie Big Bananas "dealers" (who insist the show can only be successful in convenient locations for them) can sweat it out in Chicago, Cleveland, or AC -- rest of us will go to the beach or pool and scroll eBay. Better aesthetics and no need to travel across the country.

Don't buy for a second they seriously considered 90% of the places listed in the OP. Dynamic cities with growing populations -- nah, we'll stick with Cleveland LOL.

When there's a west coast location that has an airport with decent public transit, convention center convenient to the airport, and nonstop flights even from the middle of nowhere, then maybe the organizers will reconsider. There just isn't a single venue anywhere in the west that fits the bill.

Chicago or a city like St. Louis make the most sense to me. East Coast and West coast locations always screw over one side of the country so keeping it somewhat central is best imo and at cities with large hubs for flights.

Plus in July I'd much rather be as far North as I can be.

Is that supposed to be compelling?

Other industries can hold events (trade shows, media events, well attended major sporting events) up and down the West Coast but the cardboard geniuses can't due to airport logistics. Got it.
