Default Future National sites

Before I start into the details it would be nice if they thread would not get flooded with "I wish the National would come to ..."

I had the opportunity to sit with a long time member of the National committee and we spoke about future locations. He told me that the National committee sent out over 800 letters to dealers with a certain priority or higher and they received less than 150 responses.

They also sent out proposals to over 40 cities around the USA. Many cities were eliminated based on costs, lack of close hotel rooms, lack of floor space or a few who were just not interested.

A few examples are:
New York to costly
Houston To costly (actually the highest cost)
Anaheim Not available for several years
San Francisco Yes but only with a five consecutive year commitment

St Louis, Nashville, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Denver, Pittsburgh, Phoenix all fell into the lack of floor space.

A few other cities like Orlando were eliminated because of a lack of collector base.

I asked about Las Vegas and was told that it would absolutely NEVER be considered.

Now, we know that National is in Chicago this year, Cleveland 2024, Chicago 2025. 2026 the options are Chicago, Atlanta and Atlantic City. This is where the lack of dealer responses come in, less than 10% of dealers responded leaving the decision up to the committee. With the financial package being offered it looks like we will be heading back to Atlantic City

Atlanta would be cool. That would allow people from the southern states to not have to travel across the country.

I could be wrong, but in the early 1990s it was there and it was reportedly one of the worst-attended years.

Thats unfortunate. Nothing will beat attendance in the north, but it would just be nice to spread it to other parts of the U.S.

Selfishly I would be fine if they just had it in Chicago every year. It's a central location for the entire U.S., plus it's such a great location. You just park & your hotel, food, entertainment & convention center are all within walking distance.
I like how it is just outside of the higher traffic city of Chicago, yet the airport & train are very close. There is even a nearby casino for the people that want that as well.
Having the opportunity to see the Cubs & go to the National is basically heaven for me! Lol

I wouldn't mind going to one in the LA area just so I can figure out a way to get to Burbank cards. but if I couldn't afford to travel to LA for Wrestlemania this year then a card show probably isn't likely

Orlando in July/August? Fanboys would be collapsing on the pavement.

Unless something has changed in the last 6 years, the ATL has the absolute worst shows. I lived there for 9 years and the card scene was miserable. Maybe things have changed, but I doubt it.

Seems it's never going to change. They have their 3 cities (Chicago, Cleveland, AC) that they are set and seems to be happy with and people come out. Don't see it changing and going to risk it by going to different parts of the country. I think only way it would happen is if the big vendors themselves pushed to have it go to a different area and since that's not happened already can't see it happening in the future.

This is pathetic.

AC is a trash location. If it’s between Chicago every year and a rotation with AC and Chicago, just do Chicago every year.

San Diego, San Diego, San Diego!!!!!!! If it's good enough for Comic Con every year, it's got to be good enough for the National. And I know what everyone is going to say at the very least..."that's a far way to go for the National". Well, so is Atlantic City for all of us Left-Coasters...

Yeah and people running it don't care about people coming from West Coast. It's the vendors who are more in midwest and east coast who don't want to go west.

It should stay in Chicago for the forseable future. Financial, Location, Logistics, etc all make sense. There's no reason to go somewhere else.

If the wildfire smoke keeps coming, Chicago won't seem like the perfect site anymore.

If enough of the old school dealers vote Atlanta will have no chance. That location had 2 lackluster -at best- efforts ..albeit 25-30 years ago.

There are plenty of places to have the event in Nashville. I don't understand the "lack of floor space" reasoning there.

Agreed. I really like the Chicago-Cleveland rotation.

Agree. Perfection would be having the IX Center space in Rosemont.

Music City Center is 353,000 square feet. Not big enough

Nashville Convention Centers largest room is 27,000 square feet
