I thankfully got a copy of that Bowman Chrome when it was cheaper. Like most have said, it's a great looking RC chrome image of him hitting.

I really like his 2019 rookie cup cards as well. The hitting and pitching of him in sapphire are 2 of my favorites.

You know what would be really great? If all the Ohtani collectors in this thread came together to make a print run list of all the Topps products from 2018. Any one interested in contributing? It would sure make it easier for a newer collector like myself to have the information to make better buying decisions.

Definitely a lot of holders. I thought about picking one up but there are usual suspects on eBay selling them over and over again, one at a time. I am pretty sure they are sitting on tons of these and limiting supply to keep the price up. I'm personally OK not paying upwards of $600 for it, and will wait for the off-season.

Though with my luck he will hit a cycle starting as a pitcher and up it goes.. (I'd be happy for him nonetheless)

You want cheap low print run Ohtanis for cheap? 2018 Topps Fire Flamethrower inserts. Print run is about 3k on the reds and 1500-2k on the Blues and Golds. Might be a little lower but not totally sure from memory. Personally I think they are very aesthetically pleasing and unique looking cards. There's no other Ohtani like them. The Topps Chrome Cosmic set that just started last year, which is in the same aesthetic is way more expensive than it "should be". I attribute that to basketball/football collectors who are used to the Panini look of cards. Those Flamethrower inserts are the closest Ohtani cards you can get to that. There are plenty of basketball people into Ohtani who would never buy non-chrome, so also in that sense, don't get your hopes up that it will change

I think they're cheap for a few reasons. 1. Baseball collectors don't like Topps Fire and see it as a cheap set. This will never change so don't get your hopes up 2. The basketball/football people that this would more appeal don't know about it and it's not chrome which is what they are into.

On top of all of this. His base Topps Fire rookie goes for 40 bucks. These go for 70-120. Full disclosure I have 5 or 6 of these. They're the top 5 of this, bottom 2 are Japanese cards:

Don't have to worry about print run on this one. Maybe a good option.
