Not collecting nba cards at the time, but was around to be aware of the hype and everybody saying boom-shakalaka; however, it doesn't matter cause I'm talking about long sustaining hobby popularity, not just in the initial years.

Hoops base 150? Prizm base 250? One last pump before hobby boxes crash to reality? Will he be in prizm draft or immaculate, nt collegiate? Zion rpa in immaculate collegiate #25 were 3k I bet these Will be the same.

First cards are Bowman/Topps.

Hoops Base probably no more than $30 to start out with.

I still think it's worth the gamble. I was somewhat hoping Spurs would get #2 to take the obvious off the board and grab Scoot but it has been written

Sad part is how all these NBA insiders and fans are whining about the Spurs getting the #1 when they drafted Robinson in the 80s (half of us wasn't even born), Duncan in the 90s (that's another chunk of us). Nothing in the 2000s (everybody was happy lol)... Plus the guy reacted like players do on draft night. It's a much welcomed sign...I'll leave it at that

No team that's won 5 championships in the last 25 years should be eligible for the number 1 pick. Give it another 20 years, then they can get the top pick.

OK. But, Shaq retired over a decade ago and the last time I looked his on-card autos out-perform a good portion of other NBA 75 / HOF retired players who are actively signing. He has always gotten plenty of hobby love.

You have to agree though, it is ridiculous lol. Every time the Spurs tanked, they keep ending up with generational talents.

They're just like the Lakers where LA keeps getting Superstar players during free agency except to be fair, the Spurs have homegrown talents.

I keep seeing these crybaby Rockets fans talking about the lottery being rigged but if they woulda won would everyone be crying about how they got Hakeem, Yao, and now Wemby?

Even if it is rigged I don’t blame the NBA for wanting to keep Wemby out of the horniest most immature locker room on the planet. If Harden comes back, he’d have Udoka, Jalen and Vic at Onyx til 4am every night.

If the mega millions numbers can be drawn live, these ping pong balls could also be drawn live. Hell it would be way more exciting than the stupid envelope reveal. Oh that's right lets trust the big accounting firms, they would never sign off on anything that wasn't on the up and up.

I'm not sure that the 25 year performance of the Chicago Bulls post their last championship (that included two no. 1 picks) helps your argument!

From a development standpoint, San Antonio is the best destination for Wembanyama. The Spurs remains to be the gold standard for developing talents. Popovich is a geat coach and an even better human being. I also love the fact that he's not a push over, so Wembanyama will be held accountable if he's not meeting expectations.

The Rockets are a complete mess but they could afford losing Viktor. They were granted #2,#3 and #4 picks in consecutive years. They just have to hope Udoka can right the ship and bring out the best in Jalen Green, Sengun, and Jabari Smith Jr.

Nah I would say blame Kawhi

Seriously, they tried to maintain competitiveness post-Duncan and had the roadmap laid out for another 5-10 and bam...that silliness happened. Even tried to keep it together and everyone laughed at the middling efforts. Meanwhile every other team BUT them have been getting top picks. Their highest one since 1997 was Sochan at 9...last year

This is why I'm perfectly ok with Viktor in San Antonio, as stated above, the Spurs are the gold standard when it comes to developing players and there's no coach I'd rather have than Popovich who's proven he can connect with his players and earn their respect. He has the moxie and clout something that's clearly missing with todays NBA coaches.

The NBA is only a couple of years away from losing some of their biggest stars to retirement. They need superstar talent to rise up to the top quickly. Ja/Zion isn't it. Jokic/Luka? Not the most marketable players. Wemb to the Spurs is GREAT for the NBA. Wether it works or not is TBD.

I agree that the live ping pong drawing would be 1000X better. But my main point was the hypocrisy of these rockets fans crying when they have been gifted the 1 pick twice already

Yeah pretty much. I'd say Luka is definitely marketable in a Joe Burrow way, just a cool dude who balls. But he's on a trash team with Kyrie now aka he' ain't winning nothing for some years or until he demands a trade.

We'll see on Wemby, I watched some of his "tape" aka highlights and man that dude looks like Manute Bol or Bol Bol Jr out there god damn. Stick figure esque.

Someone on a podcast said he was the greatest prospect ever, not just in basketball, but in all of sports. Media is out of control on this guy it feels like. He very well could be the greatest ever but if I had a ton of cash to buy cards, I’d buy Jordan and LeBron cards as a safer investment.

Almost everyone will do anything for a click these days. The headline can be false, it can be completely misleading and/or against the authors actual beliefs. Clicks = ego and most importantly, money.

It would help us ALL out if Zion could give Victor W. about 45 pounds…. but unfortunately it’s just not that simple; damn!
