Its not "our" Panini (Panini America), which is the arm that makes typical US trading cards. Its the real Panini, IE the European company that does the sticker books. They hold the Warner Bros license for HP cards. But I think that just might be over there.

Thats why they are making stickers and card games, and not actual trading cards like Artbox was doing.

But I agree, any HP cards released right now would make a killing. The movie came out 20 years ago, so many of those that grew up loving the series/books, are adults right now with much deeper pockets for nostalgia like this.

Not sure why no one is making a run at it.

If there were to be a new HP release down the road, I wonder if Radcliffe, Grint, and Watson would ever consider signing new Harry Potter cards again.

There have always been rumors in the HP fandom of another Harry Potter movie with the Big 3 as adults but I'm not going to get my hopes up lol. I think the 3 of them have pretty much moved on from Harry Potter.

The top 3 missing autographs from the current Artbox sets (IMO) are:

Snape (Alan Rickman)
Rubeus Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane)
Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes)

Sadly, we'll never see those autographed by Rickman or Coltrane - RIP!!! It would be really cool to see a Voldemort auto included in any potential new release.

Less than I paid for mine! Haha.

I figured that would be the case. The last 6 months hasn’t been kind to any of us.

Hopefully we hear who bought it. Id love to know. It’s certainly the most expensive public sale of a HP card ever.

Not quite the same with the fandom, but they could even bake in some stuff from the Fantastic Beasts movies into that checklist - add in the likes of Mads Mikkelsen, Jude Law, Eddie Redmayne, Zoe Kravitz, etc.

No Depp, Ezra Miller, or Rowling thanks to their...controversies...but could still be some value adds.

Does that final bid of $47,400 include the 20% buyers fee?

Highest public sale, for sure!! I wonder what the highest private sale was for this card.

Curious to know what you paid. But, understand if you want to keep that under wraps

For the record the biggest problem with a part 8, the fallout between Watson, Radcliffe, Redhead guy, and Rowling herself. They've all gone on record as saying they won't work with her anymore and they can't do the films without her so, impasse.

Also, sorry redhead guy, you were very nice to talk to but at that point my kid was reading the books not me. I was just security and told you were a VIP. No one told me why you were signing autographs and it took me a while to put it together.

Haha!

I haven’t made it public because I didn’t want to be accused of manipulating future sales.

Given that it sold publicly now I feel okay about it.

I paid 50k plus fees to ensure the seller netted 50k and since he was international, that’s like 52k total plus shipping, insurance and grading. So something around $53k.

I’ve had others say,”are you upset it didn’t sell for more?” And truly, I’m not. If ten of them come available tomorrow for $30k, I legitimately would buy them all. Lol.

Okay, whew!

When you said you paid over the $47k, I feared for you that you paid $15k-$20k more. You are pretty much in line with the Goldin sale.

One of the worst feelings is when you shell out a hefty amount for a card, and then you see it sell for 25% less. Never fun haha.

Not trying to beat anyone down. But the sale was for $47K with 20% BP. That means the seller got about $37K. Not sure what, if any, deal the seller cut with Goldin. But they usually take 10% from the buyers end as well.

Meaning they could have only netted $33K an change.

If the27guy sold theirs for the same amount, the same way, it would be a $20,000 bath

Haha. Maybe.

My guess is you’re more concerned about it than me. Again, I didn’t buy it thinking I was getting a deal. I think I paid 5x the previous sell price. At the time, it’s what I had to do to get it and I’m just really happy to have it.

I’m hoping the big public sale brings a few others to auction. I’d love to see the price come down and have a chance to grab others.

Can you drive down the price of signed photos so I can just have one of those? That'd be nice of you.

I was a bit surprised by the goldin result. Still out of the stratosphere for average collectors, but thought it would be higher especially in that grade. Maybe since I was used to seeing Marvel pmgs go for 70k to like 200k at auction back in the craze...I mean this is the HP card, didnt get even the value of moderate PMGs back then. Shows you the difference outside sports investors make driving up the price of cards.

Puts that one on ebay asking 700k in perspective...not a chance..off by a factor of like 14.

There's been a rumor flying around lately that WB is going to reboot the franchise and once again adapt the original seven books with an all-new cast.

If anyone has an extra Luna Lovegood Auto ( looking for the one where she's got the glasses on) at a reasonable price, I'd love to have that one. My niece is a Harry Potter fanatic and she has always been her favorite character from the series.

Two years ago, I was ready to take the full dive into collecting the Harry Potter autographs, and unfortunately the bad taste from my first transaction has never left me.

I was lucky enough to find a Rupert Grint Auto at around $100 or so under the current market. Everything looked legit, but when I received the card it was switched out with a glossy faxcimile card.

Just never got into them after that transaction.

Sorry about your initial negative experience! I can see why that would have turned you off.

Hopefully, you purchased the card on eBay and were able to get your money back.

I just saw a Luna Lovegood Half-Blood Prince added on eBay for $350 OBO - which is in line with where this card has been selling for the past year.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I've seen that card listed many times and from my memory it always looked like your first link. You can definitely see signatures of her that look like the second listing, but I don't think I've seen it on that card. Not calling it fake, but curious what others think for sure.

Peoples signatures change, especially celebrities, but typically not "mid pile". I found many copies with the printed out signature but that second signature I find on IP signed items. Very confusing.
