Hi everyone.
I recently discovered the Harry Potter Artbox series and have been acquiring the best ones that I can find. From what I can tell, there isn’t really a great place to discuss these anywhere. The information online isn’t great either. That’s why I created this thread. I started an IG account to show off my pickups. It’s @27guy_harrypotter if you want to see what I’ve picked up so far. I just bought a big collection and I’ll post them over the next few weeks. But right now, I have only like 5 total cards on the account but a couple really nice ones. (2004 PoA Hermoine is the best) I thought it would be fun if anyone on here wants to have a place to discuss them, to have this thread. I’m hoping mostly to find a Prisoner of Azkaban Update triple Signature of Harry Ron and Hermoine. I’ve found a few people who own one but none willing to sell. If you have one I’d know of someone who does, I’d love any help. Otherwise, I’d love to just see what you have! If you have an IG account with them, please share that or please feel free to share images here in the thread. ![]() Thank you all! Adam

The Yakshack forum used to be THE place to discuss Harry Potter trading cards. Sadly, the forum is no longer up and running but I found an archived version of it. You will find so much info and discussions on all the sets there you could be reading for days. It's just not active so you can't post anything.
Take a look and enjoy...... https://web.archive.org/web/20180809...orum/index.php |

I was pretty surprised at prices of some of these. For example a Bellatrix (Helena Bonham Carter) from Half Blood Prince recently sold for >800 on ebay at auction- seemed like a pretty strong sale. I dont even want to know what a holy grail triple auto would go for these days.

Have to admit I could never get into the HP world and I tried more than once. I did end up collecting quite a few of these just because of the actor signature and not the HP name. Plus Artbox was a small company and their production runs of this were small compared to if it had been Topps or UD.
Here are some checklists with production numbers if you are not familiar with Jeff Allenders page. http://nslists.com/hpmovie1.htm http://nslists.com/hpmovie2.htm http://nslists.com/hpmovie3.htm http://nslists.com/hpmovie4.htm http://nslists.com/hpmov4up.htm http://nslists.com/hpmovie5.htm http://nslists.com/hpmovie6.htm http://nslists.com/hpmov6up.htm |

Yeah, the lack of supply is one of the appealing things to me. I’ve been using those checklists primarily for info. The print runs are interesting. I wonder how good those numbers are though. For example, the first year hermoine says there are 50 total. But I’ve found and bought three of them already. I’d guess there are more than 50. Still, the checklists are very helpful. I may put together a spreadsheet with actor and estimated print run by product. It would be really cool to see total quantity of hermoine and Harry autos for example.

This is great. Do you happen to know if data exists that shows which characters/actors are represented and the print run of each?

Not an autograph and it’s my only Artbox HP card but found it recently.
I want to have it PSA Authentic slabbed, not graded. Are they still doing that/Do they do that for Costume cards? ![]()

It feels to me that the prop/costume cards have a stronger following in this world than in sports cards. I think it makes sense. It’s cool knowing exactly where it came from when you go rewatch the movies.

Can you say how many characters are represented in total?
Id also love to know approximately how many total hermoine and Harry autos were printed across all 12 Artbox sets.

Fun topic...but like reviving the dead at his point... gonna be tough...this stuff is buried deep away in Personal Collections at this point...But I guess if Jordan PMGs are still being autioned off there is a chance that this stuff will turn up as well.

Unfortunately most of the yakshack links are not recoverable it seems.
Print runs, to me, are some of the most important info. Up until this thread, I’ve been using the data from this site - http://nslists.com/jaall.htm This site is helpful but the print runs do not appear to be authoritative. More just like a guide. It’s helpful. But it’s imperfect. I come from the world of basketball cards where some of this stuff feels incredibly important and is nearly always at your fingertips. This link on the Prisoner of Azkaban set is interesting because it gives print run data from a pretty good sample of boxes. I’m copying and pasting directly from the other source. Hope that’s okay. Just want to make sure it isn’t lost. I’m looking for the big three triple. If anyone can direct me to it I’d be super grateful. I have some good leads but nothing imminent. https://web.archive.org/web/20071030...ic,5365.0.html For completion ("all the sets") I went back to compile information from box and case breakdowns for Prisoner of Azkaban Update. The reports cover 1308 boxes, or about 5.8% of the combined USA/UK/Japan hobby packaging run. Packs predict an insertion rate of 1:120 packs or 2:case, but we've seen an average of about 2.23 autographs per case lot. Part of this total comes from packs that had more than one auto. I set the assumed "total" at 5700, about 15% above what you'd expect for 1:108 packs, to give an allowance for replacements, damage, and goodie bags. The only new insight is that the dual Fred & George signed card is probably a bit less scarce than predicted. I didn't see a single report of a pack pull for the Radcliffe auto, but other sources tag the number signed at about 65. # reported - predicted total out of 5700 - signer 2 - 45 - Radcliffe / Watson / Grint 0 - 65 - Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter 7 - 175 - Emma Watson as Hermione Granger 11 - 175 - Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley 13 - 250 - David Bradley as Argus Filch 13 - 250 - Pamela Ferris as Aunt Marge (R) 17 - 375 - Chris Rankin as Percy Weasley 18 - 375 - Dawn French as The Fat Lady 19 - 375 - Richard Griffiths as Uncle Vernon (R) 20 - 375 - James Phelps / Oliver Phelps 21 - 375 - Jaime Waylett as Vincent Crabbe 23 - 375 - Harry Melling as Dudley Dursley 27 - 535 - Jimmy Gardner as Ernie Prang (R) 28 - 535 - Genevieve Gaunt as Pansy Parkinson 31 - 600 - Lee Ingleby as Stan Shunpike 42 - 820 - Warwick Davis as The Choir Conductor I will try and find the other sets print run data and report here accordingly.

Sorry for the quick post. It occurred to me that I should do this in order, starting from the first set, which is the 2004 Prisoner of Azkaban (PoA) set. It’s checklist is not as good as the update set, but it’s the very first Artbox set (they made sets for Sorcerors Stone and Chamber of Secrets AFTER PoA, even though the movies came out before.
When we compare the two print run estimates we get really different numbers. Especially for the Hermoine card. This seems incredibly important as it’s one of the most important cards of the entire series. This widely used list today indicates that the first Hermoine auto is limited to about 50. http://nslists.com/hpmovie3.htm But the old link estimates around 180. https://web.archive.org/web/20101106...ic,5364.0.html Here’s the full yakshack post for posterity. In the interest of "collecting the whole set" I went back to collate the box and case breakdowns for autographs. The statistics give a few slightly different perspectives than we might have thought, like the prices for the Emma auto might be more from demand than from supply. Of course, people are more likely to report a great pull than a dud box, but only one of the Hermiones came from a box report instead of a case break. Included are reports for 404 boxes, or 8.08% of the box-packaging run. There should be 2500 autographs in 5000 boxes, but the "target" I use is 20% higher, 3000, to account for hot boxes, goodie bags, damaged items, and replacements. # reported - projected total out of 3000 - signer 13 - 180 - Emma Watson as Hermione Granger 11 - 180 - David Thewlis as Remus Lupin 12 - 180 - Gary Oldman as Sirus Black 13 - 180 - Michael Gambon as Albus Dumbledore 23 - 320 - Julie Christie as Madam Rosmerta (R) 22 - 320 - Robert Hardy as Cornelius Fudge 20 - 320 - Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom 27 - 440 - James Phelps as Fred Weasley 32 - 440 - Oliver Phelps as George Weasley 31 - 440 - Bonnie Wright as Ginny Weasley

The fun part about this is that it’s all a chase and a mystery. I was strong into basketball cards in this era but I knew nothing of these HP cards, so i truly just enjoy the learning right now. And what you provided is fantastic. The world will likely never know which data sets are best… but it’s all apart of the puzzle.

This thread is a real trip down memory lane for me ( some happy and some not so much ! ) . I went back and checked my original case breaks on the NSU forum , can't believe it was 18 years ago
.One thing I didn't appreciate at the time and definitely do now is how lucky we in the UK were to have a big wholesaler in Cards Inc who passed on the discounted prices to us lowly collectors . When they stopped trading it probably reduced the amount of non sports bought in the UK by more than 50% . If you haven't already you should check out the box and case breaks on NSU which are quite detailed . |

One of the great thing about message boards is learning from others that have the experience that you don't. I just don't know about the history of this stuff. Thank you for sharing. I have some biggies being delivered to my vault tomorrow. I'll show them off when they get there.
