Remember grabbing Greg Vaughn and Canseco in the final two rounds of a draft. They were coming off injuries and basically castoffs. Think they both hit around 50 dingers.

Won my league and finished in the Top 100 overall in the ESPN fantasy drafts.

Still got the tee shirt somewhere.
From May 19 of his MVP year through 2021, he hit .224. That's 1,065 plate appearances and 927 official at-bats.

It doesn't mean he can't have a bounce back year, but that is a LOT of struggling.

What portion of those plate appearances was he playing with injuries that most other players would be sidelined? 50%? Broken leg, dislocated shoulder, etc.

He’s never been one to hit for average but it’s pretty clear his awful average last year was in large part because his shoulder surgery and broken leg.

I had a lot of Cody Bellinger cards when he was hot and even then the one thing I learned is that he has no card love. None!

I don't know, but that seems really high. The shoulder dislocation that prompted the offseason surgery came in the playoffs. He dislocated it in 2019, missed a game, then went 18/48 with 3 doubles and 3 homers the next few weeks.

He's obviously not a .165 hitter. He's basically been a .260~ish guy outside of an incredible start to 2019 and an incredibly bad 2021.

He’s fine. As long as he’s playing solid D and hitting for power when he hits, he’s useful. Is he one of the best in the game? Probably not but whatever.

I need some people to auction their Bellinger stuff on Ebay instead of keeping them listed at 2019 prices. Also you know he is nothing now as this thread hasn't been touched since May yikes.

On pace for about a 3 win season. Obviously not elite but between his defense and offensive production in general being down, he's serviceable. Does nothing for him in the hobby, but it is what it is.

Well I still need a few of his autos for my PC (him and Judge got me back into collecting after a 20 year break), but I would like to pay more of somebody who is hobby irrelevant than what it's at.

I never expected him to be a MVP caliber player every year, but the drastic shift down in his power numbers is something I didn't expect. I figured his 2018 season with maybe a bit more power would be his norm, not this putrid self. I need to move his cards for anything I can at this point :\

Short of a huge 2nd half turnaround I'd have to assume there will be some massive auction dumps on his better stuff starting soon and all the way through the winter. Be patient, don't be afraid to send lowball offers that you know are appropriate. All they can do is decline, they can't fight you for being disrespectful. They know deep down he ain't worth anywhere near the asking prices.

This guy haunted me in 2017. Pulled his autos and tough RCs way more than I should have. Thank goodness I sold at peak and didn't hold like I'm usually guilty of. Sad to see this happen, though. I thought this guy had the makings to be an all-time great Dodger.

I’m a lifelong dodger fan. Saw Cody play in ST a lot before he came up. Was never sold on his swing and stance. Always thought he would have trouble being so upright and pitchers would exploit it. I think I own one Bellinger card. Even in his MVP year I think he only hit 190 in his last 2 months and when Yelich broke his knee cap I think that sealed it for Cody.

In late 2020, blinded by my Dodgers love and pandemic cabin fever, I paid WAY too much money for PSA 10s of his rookie US50 "High Fives" and "Pointing Up" short prints plus multiple Chrome rookie variations. WAY too much.

I got a really clean raw of the high fives for $25 in April. Can't really bring myself to get it graded. He's great defensively but just looks totally lost at the plate for long stretches.

Bellinger and Yelich found the same black hole to disappear into at the same time.

I'm sure pitchers adjusted to him and started pinpointing his weaknesses. He's likely too stubborn/stupid to change his approach, thus he's hitting sub-.200.

Big Cody fan here and it is sad to see him hit under .200 and will end the season at/around 20 home runs. Cody is only 26 and at his prime. He will play himself out of baseball in a few years.
