You guys overrate psa too much.
Sent numerous bgs 9s to psa that turned into 10s and know others that did too. Too many inconsistencies in grading. Psa basically looks at front corners and surface. Back corners are all trash on so many psa 10s. |

It is obvious and well known that Star cards are both undersized and oversized. I cannot get past the fact of how small that PSA 9 Goldin has up right now. It is miles short top to bottom and is also narrow side to side. The entire card doesn’t even come close to touching the border guides in the holder. If it weren’t for the sticky tabs, this card would be all over the place in the holder.
What are others thoughts??? |

I would love to know how know that is not a standard sized slab. Can you explain?
Why would they put it in a non standard slab? |

If a card is too big to fit in a slab with standard bumpers, they will use one with wider bumpers. Look at the pic of the 101 and then this 288. See all the frosted edges around the 288 to make a smaller internal area? The physical slab is the same size, just the inner space is different.

It is short top to bottom. PSA seems to reward thin top border. |

Appreciate the info guys. I never new that and have never noticed. All of my current PSA slabs resemble the example above of the 288. Very interesting…

No issues with that PSA 9 #101 - its absolutely authentic and unmolested. Size is perfectly in range. My guess is it sells HIIIIGHH.

The amount of misinformation still being spouted on Facebook card groups (sports card nonsense and even the Star basketball group) about the 101 is just mind numbing. Hopefully these big sales we will see for the PSA 101s will at least allow a lot of folks to get educated. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had to link basketballgold.com on facebook.

I think the high graded corner and edge with bad centering grades are the best bets for PSA crossover. Find somebody that is an expert on Star 101 and have them take a good look to see if they think PSA crossover would be a good idea on that one.

Even Beckett is featuring Star Company on the latest issue, October, 2022, just released (cover below).
Add in the PSA buzz and some real momentum is building. Good time to look for buys on these 1980's beauties! Hard to find good buys, but they are out there at auction. BIN prices are unreasonably high, like with everything else.

I just don't envision a Socrates or Aristotle doubling down like that after being told they don't know when someone bought the card. For all we know he bought it last week, after a big market dip (still atop a huge market run-up from 2020-21). (Are you advising that no one buy MJs until they are no more than 2x the pre-pandemic price run-up? Then say that.) |

At least they look at front corners. BGS doesn't even do that! (at least they didn't, not enough data today coming out to tell as they apparently don't grade cards anymore)

I decided to send my 101 Jordan to PSA through a local shop. It came out today N6 Minimum Size Requirement. Is it worth bothering to send it back to them again, or should I try BGS?

I would send it again to PSA. Given there is no cost for an N6 grade, I might send it in a couple of times more to see if you can get a number on the holder.
