Thoughts on Amazon stock? Im sitting on some small $$$ and would rather invest it in something instead of making 0.5% in my savings account. It would me for a more long term hold

Didn't Warren Buffett just take on nearly 50% ownership of Occidental? That's a strong positive stance on the oil sector. Devon, XOM, Fang, Chevron, etc. Don't ignore that sanction boom gets lowered on Putin Dec 5th, but that guy is gonna put the screws to Europe by cutting off their gas supply.

Where does the EU get energy to make it through winter? LNG? Coal? Nuclear? Oil?

Just scared myself, actually.

Probably anything in that sector should work.
We own it with a cost around $40. We have been selling OOM calls since we opened. XOM is a winner but it is all about entry point.

Take it with a grain of salt, but I really like Amazon. We added to our Amazon position at $141. Not looking great right now, but it'll get there. Need to mentally separate the lines of businesses when you are looking at valuation. I could give a rats crap about the Cornerstore.com line of business. This is eventually be run as marketing for AWS. I do, however, like the AWS line of business.

FWIW, I like Apple more. More reasonable valuation.

Completely agree. This is a buy high, sell higher situation for me. Tight stop loss, just trying to play the momentum. I crushed this with $100 Oct calls. Sold them near the close yesterday. Didn't want to get greedy. Bought Monday around $93 shares and calls. I will buy the calls back if this back fills the gap from $94.50.

Stop loss on the shares at $90. Can't lose on this trade since I took profits on the calls. Of course it could gap down below $90 overnight but I don't see that happening.

Thanks, I was considering Apple as well. I only hold a few stocks so far MSFT, WMT, XOM and DIS and was looking to add a few more. I appreciate your input.

I’ll be honest. If someone gave me $100 strictly to invest, I would buy a fractional of apple. The companies you mentioned are all best in breed and that’s refreshing to see.

NVDA announced their miss today. Perfect time to add to this position. Even better time to open. If it dips lower at market open, than I shot myself in the foot making the move in extended.

PTON tanking premarket … anyone think someone like AAPL or AMZ could swoop in and buy them? Apple probably could use it to boost their fitness base segment tied to their watch. And maybe even use it to boost Apple TV+ streaming?

I added at 7am when I woke up. That balance sheet is fantastic.

We may be the beneficiary of a market giving a few back. Consider trimming today and just taking a few free percent on some of those shares.

I rolled over my 401k from my last job into an IRA and have been building positions with that. Gonna hang on to those for a bit.

This account isn't very diversified, but has some solid companies in it. NVDA, AAPL, AMZN, GOOGL, COST with the majority in SPY.

SPY should give you the desired diversification. All of those companies that you mentioned are winners.

This proved to be yet another prescient call JMarch, well done.

Market rolling on Powell's hawkish comments to stay at it until the job is done re:inflation. And I can't help but think the "Inflation Reduction Act" and loan forgiveness will make inflation worse...

AFRM is the gift that keeps on giving. Been short this name forever.

Easily my strongest conviction. Garbage company, garbage concept. Just a payday loan company with a fake mustache and glasses. Preying on poor people.

I will short this company until it goes bankrupt.

Finally back to reality. Price action the last month has been obscene. Amazing how everyone colludes to push a false narrative.

Guys, historically September and October are your two worst months for equity returns. Definitely proceed with caution. We should bounce on Monday. The action today was pretty uncalled for. Give back a point, maybe two. Not 4% on the Nasdaq and 1000 points on the Dow.

You guys knows me. I am always bullish. Always. I can always make a buck. We might retreat to a big cash position and hope that our gap over the benchmark doesn't take a big hit.

Hey. That means a lot. You really know your stuff, so it means a lot. NVDA gave every point back that it dropped from the earnings report....and then the market pillaged it today.

and Yes. The Fed is fighting the oval office. Working in two separate directions with two different agendas. I won't get political because there are just more important things to talk about. But I think that Powell has done as well as could be expected. If The Fed were a publicly traded company, they would be like a Macy's. Operational, but their balance sheet is a trainwreck.

Thank you again for the compliment. Hopefully you made some money on Thursday.

Why uncalled for? Market has traded all month on this false narrative of a Fed pivot later this year despite Fed members going to the media to say no, no, no. Dollar strength, European gas crisis, and Fed rate hikes means more pain ahead IMO.

CPI will see improvements in the coming months. But what we need is a deflationary environment. If the cost of your weekly groceries goes from $200 to $300, but then plateaus over a 12 month period, are you really going to be celebrating?

We need more DOOOOOOM!!! Hoard your gold folks, the world is ending SPY to 0!!!

The fed is still going to stop raising early next year, maybe sooner, and the market is already starting to tell you they’re going to start cutting again next year.

Sorry to say but you’re not smarter than the market

Student loan payments will be hurting many once those restart. I honestly think ppl are forgetting about this because it’s been so long. My wife’s repayment will be $2500/month whenever it restarts.

Hyperbole doesn’t make your argument any stronger. I am very much net long with just a couple short positions for the next 3-6 months.

Everyone is triggered over the $10k forgiveness when they really should be triggered over the ongoing pause. The economy is so great, but we can’t resume loan payments?

I’m a year away from complete forgiveness through PSLF. This pause is going to save me at least ~$60k if they resume in January. I am certainly not hurting for money, and I thank uncle Joe for his stupidity throughout all of this.
