That’s just an absurd amount of money for this card. I know it has a lot of publicity surrounding it, but anyone stupid enough to pay that should have their head checked.

I agree but I remember a Goldin video saying there are ppl out there who WANT to be known as the guy who spent the most money on whatever card.

I'm definitely not that kind of guy but hey, if someone wants to spend $5M+ on it, good for them.

It’s not selling for anywhere near that much. Those “bounties” and Drake’s involvement were a coordinated effort to pump a product that the distributors and breakers needed to get out from under. Instagram bounties aren’t real. Every higher bounty voids the previous high. And these were bounties on a card that is unlikely to even be hit, and certainly not hit in a timely fashion after the bounty is put out. Oh, you hit the card finally? Well, I made that bounty two months ago and it’s now void. Sorry.

$3M would be the 9th highest sale of all-time. It would be the highest modern non-auto sale ever. Beating the Kobe PMG Green ($2M), Kobe TC Refractor Black Label ($1.75M), Giannis Prizm Black Mosaic ($1.14M), and Curry TC Gold PSA 10 ($1.1M) as they only modern non-auto cards to record sales over $1M.

So some of those Exquisite triples (bron/mj/kobe) (mj/pippen/rodman) wouldn't pull record sales nowadays only because they aren't signed? Nah. It's just because none of them have surfaced for public sale since the boom.

Champagnepapi wouldn't even flinch at a $5m expenditure. But I don't think it'll be him buying it. Most likely going to pull FU money to the discerning clecter that speaks Mandarin and sponsors Tom Dwan events in Macau.

Regardless how ugly, it's still a triple Lebron GU logoman and will most likely be historically pertinent because of that.

The big 3 won’t change their pricing. They’re asking $42k for a case right now when only three cards from the set have sold for more than that. The pricing is completely dissociated from reality.

The thing that get's me is 99% of collectors are bemoaning the fact that some breaker got exactly what is being marketed to him and why he is breaking in the first place:

contrived trash.

All valuations aside, I much prefer my Kobe TSC R12 silver foil which I imagine, with reasonable stretch of the imagination, as the first Kobe ever printed. I am sure that most people here have cards like that that are far less contrived and much more intrinsically rare and interesting.

It's the card that got me deeply into collecting basketball, as I felt that it was some kind of sign. So of course I use it as my benchmark, tho the greening graded PAT (patina) 10 Iverson Apprentices and the unscaled MU 08 Kobe get more oohs and ahs.

But my question to you is, do you own a card with a similarly unique character? or are you drooling over the triple west.
