I want to confirm that the LeBron Card in question was purchased from Goldin. After the purchase, the buyer claimed the card was not authentic and the issue was investigated on our end thoroughly and this was proven to be a false claim. The purchaser issued a chargeback but refused to supply any information as to why nor return the card to us in a clear attempt to defraud and steal the item. We have reported the card stolen to Beckett to flag the cert number and we have paid out the seller in full and our handling the purchaser with our attorneys and police in the areas. We take this situation serious and our sellers will always be taken care of, which is the reason to sell at an auction house that has a good reputation and stands behinds its consignors. We are handling the issue with the purchaser and the authorities directly. This issue has zero to do with the OP who as stated was paid on full for his card.
Thanks for the update, most of this is news to me.

I sold this card along with a number of others with Goldin around May/June. Goldin then attempted to make payment around the end of July but missed a 0 off my UK account number. My bank contacted me asking for proof from Goldin that the funds were intended for me, which Goldin couldn't provide despite numerous requests.

The funds were returned to Goldin at that point and payment was reprocessed in a piecemeal fashion, receiving a number of amounts from 8/10 to 9/22 at which point the amount for the LeBron was only left outstanding.

I received little to no communication from Goldin throughout this time unless I constantly chased them. I finally lost patience and sent an email demanding to know what was going on 11/1, which is when I received a reply from their 'controller' which included the following line:

"The winning bidder defaulted on payment stating that the card is fake. We are in communication to retrieve the card from him...(Goldin employee's name) will be following up with you soon to discuss further."

This was the first time I had heard there was any sort of problem with the sale, 5 months after the auction ended.

As you can see I clearly misunderstood the above line, which I took to mean the credit card was fake and not the LeBron card. I accept blame for that error and apologise to Goldin for that.

Anyway, at that point I called Goldin from the UK and asked to speak to the employee named in the email who I had dealt with prior to the auction when consigning.

According to him, this call was the first time he had been made aware of any issues and he promised to investigate. To his credit, within a couple of hours I received an email stating payment was sent and it was received the following day.

That's my full story, make of it what you will. I was in no way attempting to spread misinformation, slander Goldin or achieve anything shady. The ONLY objective behind the post was to warn others of the card being stolen, which Goldin above confirmed it is. Any info I received regarding the card would have been passed straight to Goldin.

Ultimately, it has taken from the May 22-23 auction until last week to get paid, with a lot of frustration along the way.

Finally, I seemed to have fallen through some cracks at Goldin but the situation was finally resolved and despite the experience I would use them again. The only sticking point was payment but I appreciate this was delayed with the error made using foreign account details by them.

I'm a bit confused where all the skepticism re: my post came from so apologies if I wasn't clear.

I'd like to warn potential buyers of a 'stolen' basketball card.
Earlier this year I sent a 2003-04 Topps Chrome Lebron James rookie card # 111, BGS 9.5 (2 x 10 incl centering & 2 x 9.5 subs) to a respected US auction house.
The card sold, payment was made to the auction house who then shipped the card to the highest bidder.
Unfortunately the bidder used a stolen credit card to pay for it.
The BGS Serial Number is 0010501751.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY OR BID ON IT.
Contact me or law enforcement if you see it for sale.
Thank you.

Fair enough.
I never took your original posting to be anything other than what you suggested.
Glad Goldin worked things through to your satisfaction in the end.
