The organizers will have to follow whatever Ontario provincial guidelines are in place at the time. Besides masks and vaccine passports, attendance limits may also be in place.
They confirmed that there is currently a maximum of 1,000 attendees not including staff and vendors but that number may be increased by the time of the Expo.

There's no way that can possibly be enforced and it could get ugly if they try. Since this is the first major show in Canada in some time, I expect the crowds to be huge.

And why is that? Are card shows somehow exempt from Provincial PHOs?
What does "it could get ugly if they try" even mean anyway?
If the organizers (who no doubt already know all the guidelines) can't ensure a safe event for all then they have no business even trying to put it on in the first place.

I would estimate we'll be looking at crowds in the 30,000 to 40,000 range for the event. Will the promoters be prepared to limit the show to a little over 1 person per table/booth at all times? (there are roughly 800 exhibitors). I doubt it. That doesn't seem reasonable or workable. Do the math. Let's say each person spends one hour at the show on average. How many total people does that work out to for the weekend if attendance is capped at 1,000 at any one time?

None of that really matters to the officials that determine the PHOs and guidelines. Either the event is managed according to the guidelines or it either won't get off the ground or there will be serious consequences if the organizers fail to comply or can't provide proper security measures- plain and simple.
If the overall situation is untenable then just stay away. Those who really don't GAF about public safety concerns or have no respect for others can just enjoy their covid soup-fest and join the ignorant Selfish Bastard Club that demonstrates in front of hospitals, spits on nurses, blames small business operators for complying with vaccine passport protocols, promotes racism or otherwise just puts their own selfish agendas before the good of all.
Hey, I'm all for a great card show and for sure I've missed them as much as the next guy. I typically set up at the Vancouver events as well, and really appreciate and enjoy interacting with other hobbyists. I hope the T.O. show is a success and those that attend have a safe and enjoyable experience.

Did you look at the election lines to vote? It could be like that to get in the hall to spend your money and do hallway trades.

If the show has decent security you will have proper crowd control, if they hire Barney Fife types then you won't and you may have a rules are rules type calling the police for gathering violations.

Public and private events in North America are usually regulated wrt politics, not public health.

Sure, but there is "usually" not a pandemic in it's fourth wave either so the political point is moot except as it relates to PH and the safety of all.

I don't think it'll be that bad inside. Inside they're limited to 50% capacity or 1000 people which ever is less and the vaccine passport will be in full effect. The issue will be the lines outside and people wanting to get in.

parking going to be another mess if its down in hall 5 or 6. They should put it up in the main hall at the front.

My thoughts as well.

It absolutely will resemble that.

That's why I wrote that things could get ugly. I don't necessarily means fights or arguments. It could just be a massive disorganized mess.

Crowds are limited for now. Ontario is due for a passport/QC code system by October. If you don’t have one, you’ll be on the outside looking in.

Any idea if there is a passport provision for those who have natural immunity?

Not in BC as far as I know, but the TO show would have its own set of Provincial Guidelines.
https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-l...ired-1.5584895
From this there are only 2 scenarios at this time in Ontario- allergic reaction and if one suffered a mild heart inflammation after receiving their first shot.

Regarding natural or post-covid immunity there is a LOT written on the subject if one cares to look.
