Finally got one of mine in yesterday. Has a 7/3 stamp on it. Took almost a month to arrive. I don't understand why these are taking so much longer.

At $3.79 you are losing money on every transaction. eBay takes 47 cents in fees from the $3.79, plus the top load, bubble mailer, etc. The cheapest postage rate on eBay is $3.01 and it goes up from there depending on the zone and the weight.

$3.79 is more than a fair price on shipping a cheap item in a bbl mailer. You can also write off fees and shipping cost on taxes so it all evens out.

I thought maybe if I offered the buyer upgrading to a bubble mailer that it would help, but I haven't had anyone take that option...
It's been a headache for the people who make it a headache. Put it in a plain white envelope, drop in the box, and forget about it. Between coming and goind I'd say the issue rate is less than 1% on these for me.

Curious…What do you charge for shipping in a bubbler mailer?

I charge 1.50 shipping on all cards. At around 8.00 I upgrade to bubble mailer. I eat the difference

If eBay forces the refund you can be below standard if there are too many. Better just to refund and do the claim

Thanks. This was the advice I was looking for tonight.

It’s frustrating because out of 16 shipments, I have the following:

1: been out for delivery for 6 days
2: stuck in Nashville as of the 20th
1: label printed but not showing scanned in
1: stuck in KC
1: stuck in Vegas

This was my first time using the eBay envelope and it’s left a bad taste in my mouth. Hoping some of these were delivered and just didn’t get scanned for some reason.

How many of your buyers have complained about non-receipt?

Wait for a buyer to ask do not initiate a did you get your card yet. If a buyer does message you stall if you can by answering their questions. Let them know you will refund them and they are covered by ebay as well. Most will give you enough time for the item to arrive.

If the buyers have not complained stop worrying about it. Geez sellers worry themselves to death by babysitting their tracking. I have never looked back at tracking even on high dollar items until the buyer reports an issue. No need to waste your time or stress yourself out over things you have absolutely zero control ovder.

Only one has submitted a claim so far. I’m just watching the others so I can be aware of where they are.

Tracking on these really does not show anything. They are not scanned by carriers. The scan comes from when they are in the machines. So if you are sending them non machinable they may never get a scan. They don't need any scan for you to be covered

First off, I’m not stressing, but I am new to the eBay envelope. I came to the board to have a better understanding on how to handle the situation since I had never encountered it before.

Without the board, I would not have known that I could file a claim to get a refund back for myself. I also wanted to do everything the right way so I would be eligible for it. Thankfully someone else mentioned that I need to issue the refund and not eBay so it doesn’t hurt my status as a seller.

As a result of one complaint, it helped me realize that I had multiple others that hadn’t arrived that should have arrived by now (although they could have arrived but not been scanned).

I never look back on tracking of items I sent. The only reason I did this time was due to a buyer sending me a message.

And to be honest, I was surprised that 6 out of 16 hadn’t been delivered, per eBay’s tracking. I’ve never had that happened before. In all my years of selling, I think it has only happened to me twice at most. And 6 out of 16 is a sucky record for eBay. Either this new system is causing cards to get lost or it’s not allowing for items to be scanned. No idea but when almost half of my orders in the 2-3 weeks seem to be lost, I’m going to ask questions.

I came here to learn from other sellers since I wasn’t familiar on something. I want to be educated and be a better seller. Others have given great feedback on what to say if contacted which I really appreciate.

Your advice has pretty much been negative to me since I originally asked what to do and you share how you apparently handle things best. You don’t even think about others trying to learn. Instead you act like we are a bunch of idiots sitting in our homes all day worrying about a $5 card not getting delivered.

I want to take care of those who buy from me, but also handle things properly and avoid possible mistakes so I can get refunded by eBay.

This has been your most useful post to me so far. I actually appreciate this info.

It has thrown me because I’m used to normal tracking. I’m having other orders with the eBay envelope show out for delivery or delivered.

Those aren’t just machine scans though. Those are being scanned by postmen when they deliver the cards.

No carrier is scanning these as delivered. You can be assured of that

Nope the carriers do not have the ability to do so. They are being scanned delivered at the last processing system by the machines. Even if non machinable many still end up in the machines

Look at the out for delivery times that is a good indicator

The bar codes are only read by sorting machines along the way, and not every post office has a sorting machine. Sometimes the envelope goes thru a hub that has a machine, but is then put on a truck for shipment to your local post office. No postal worker can scan these envelopes, not a window clerk or a delivery driver....only the sorting machines do the scanning.

This is the advice right here. Drop them in the mailbox and don't look back until a buyer complains.

It will be charged the first class parcel rate. Had it happen to me on a 2.00 item.. that why I say it's better just to refund and hate the auto acceptance on these.

That's what I figured - two cards totalling $5.50, so not really worth it based on the damage. Looks like someone dropped them on a corner...not saying it was me.
