Unlikely....people don't change overnight.

He's been in the league long enough that we would already be seeing any improvements that might happen....

In the Fox sports article shared, the Philly coaches (Monty Williams) asked in what area has Simmons actually improved on (regarding craft). Answer? Dead silence. That is telling, and frankly vibes with the eye test from what I've seen watching him play.

his VORP/BPM/Winshares have dropped each season. His Trueshooting% spiked last year but dropped down to his year2 level this year.

also people keep throwing around "he's 24!" lol - he turns 25 in a month. For all we know, with his work ethic he might not pick up a basketball for a month. Certainly the next time he steps on the court in a pro game, he'll be 25.

Never seen anyone so coddled, by fans or the people he surrounds himself with, though maybe KD is up there too.

He also already has a $177 million contract so not much incentive to improve if he doesn't care that much. He seems like he's more interested in the lifestyle of rich and famous and dating models and Kardashians than winning championships. We all have to accept the fact that many athletes are only playing professional sports because they were blessed with natural ability to make hundreds of millions of dollars and if there wasn't money involved they wouldn't be playing.

Exactly, he just doesn't care...and why should he when he's due $140.4MM at a bare minimum going forward.

I'll take him on the Pacers. They aren't winning any titles anyway. You can't choke in big moments if you don't even get there lol

McCollum to the Sixers, Simmons to the Pacers, and Sabonis to the Blazers. You call your GM and I will call mine. Lets do this.

I read something that went along the lines of "one person has enough money to give EVERY human being alive 1 billion dollars" Think about that lol. A billion is something that I have to concentrate on to understand. It's not like a million... or 150 million in this instance.

Simmons is a winner from the standpoint that he took his skillset and made an incredible amount of money.

I would hate to see him go to the lake show as I want bron to win.

It (mostly) works, money wise. I like it more than the Hollinger projected wins thingy

Indiana isn't trading a 25 year old Sabonis

Nah, we will just go ahead and send Brogdon and Lamb to Philly and keep our Sabonis.

Nobody should help Philly out. Make them and their miserable fans suffer the fate they’ve locked themselves into.

aaron gordon has always got the "but hes only(insert age)" and every year he was gonna take a leap and every year he was the same (hampered by his meh work ethic/being a stoner)

i kinda see it like that with benny too

I'd rather send Brogdon, but honestly, I'd do that deal. It's time to split up the two bigs and this would make Indy so much better defensively. I'd try Ben as a 4.

it may work as long as Turner's 3P% doesn't keep trending down... though that's been the case for the last two seasons now.

Brogdon-Levert-Warren-Ben-Turner is interesting though, for sure. Decent mix of defense and offensive creators.

The thing about Ben is I really don't think it's a work ethic thing, it's more of a mental block.

Almost every summer we start seeing hype videos of him draining 3's. Remember this one?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFn3Bolx-H4

It's like he spends the offseason working on things, and then it goes out the window when the game gets tough.

Remember, his free throw %'s by month this season started with:

Dec: 61%
Jan: 65%
Feb: 70%

I'll simplify it for everyone here... the real story is that his confidence in any sort of shot has crumbled.

What I thought was really telling was where it mentions how Brett Brown exhausted every teaching method in his arsenal to get through to Simmons, and nothing worked.

Coddled. Lol.

Dude is anything but. I've seen way more hate than people making excuses for him.

Dude has been a DPOY candidate for years and his star isn't even a great fit for his game.

People are acting like he's gonna fall off a cliff and not gonna even be a starter in the League.

I hope Philly are able to move him. He has improved his free throws to 60%+. It is 100% mental with him.

The problem is the hype people put on guys like this. The next LeBron stuff is only setting guys up for failure.

Dude is gonna be just fine. Still elite defensively and passing wise. And yes, being 25 soon is a big deal. That is young.

I would say the main thing he needs to do is get his free throws up to 70% and gain some mental strength.

And a fresh start with shooters all around him. Either way. People will still hate him. They always have. That won't change.

All indications are that he is coddled and babied by those he chose to surround himself with. Instead of addressing the glaring hole in his game, they/he choose to do what you're doing - "But I play really good defense." .. "But I'm an excellent passer". Yeah, that's true. And all the while, the 50 ton elephant in the room has grown to 5,000 tons.

Yeah, it's honestly disheartening. The guy has all-time level physical tools and talent, but like you mentioned he chooses to hide behind "but I'm good at this, good at that, etc." I mean damn, have some accountability and pride when it comes to working on the core skill of your craft. And there comes a time when you are so subpar and failing so badly at mastering it to an even below-average level that you need to try new methods. And not just rely on your BROTHER as your shooting coach. Guy has access to all the best shooting coaches in the world, but he chooses the easy way. People would be way more understanding if he still failed at improving his shooting if they felt he was exhausting and trying EVERYTHING to fix it, giving maximum effort and focus. And from the sounds of it, it's been far from that.

He’s just like Dwight. Genetic lottery winners who couldn’t get past character deficiencies. Like Dwert, they both lose composure and shrink in big moments.

I think he’ll rebound from this season, but he will most likely fail to meet the lofty expectations that was set for him.

Dwight's a bonehead, but he's still had a HOF career. His Lakers numbers were even pretty good before he hurt his shoulder (and I believe this was after a back surgery).
