I'm going to challenge this as I broke a ton of 18 low H and was obsessing over Ohtani. I was lucky enough to pull 3 autos and monitored listings and sales from the get-go and saw 0 redemptions. Even IF there was one or two, it sure wasn't "many." If you know something I don't, please share.

I seem to remember that for the 2018 low series, the Hobby autographs were live and the retail ones were redemptions. This was frustrating because both Acuna and Soto were also redemptions in High that year. My memory may be way off!

Thanks. The buyer is the CEO of a company. He started collecting (investing in) sports cards only recently. His first high end purchase was a Jordan Fleer BGS 9.5 last week. This is his 2nd high end purchase. Payment will me made today via bank transfer. I will let you know once I get paid.

EDIT: He understands the downside risk and is willing to take the risk.

Did you pull this yourself? That is definitely a dream to pull a RC Super

I bought two redemptions and saw a handful more, so surely it wasn't that unusual.

I can't 100% confirm, but this does ring a familiar bell. I did not pull any myself but sounds about right.

Congrats! I wish I still had my sapphire super, but the proceeds went to make another appreciated purchase (not as much as the super), so I can't complain. Holding onto the red? I think we each have one.

Arthur was this purchased by you? And if not do you think it went for a fair price?

Thanks! Yes, I still have the sapphire red and holding on to it.. I decided to list the TC Super yesterday after seeing the TC Batting super sale for 90K. I wanted to see what kind of offers I received and it sold within a day. I still have the Transcendent Superfractor Auto and will likely hold on to it unless I get a an offer like this

Keggah at pcp's house!

Congratulations, sir. I'm curious, might some of that profit end up residing in a vintage card?

Wasn't me. I mean, tough to argue with Blue /150s these days. I bought a blue I think a week ago but if I hadn't I wouldn't have had a problem spending $100 on one.

They're so nice looking in-hand. So weird that the least-rare tier ends up being the most sought-after.

Thanks everyone. Funds will likely be used to purchase a high end modern card.

Would you really choose a class 1 blue /150 over a class 3 blue /50? And what about the class 1 black vs a class 3 black. The class 3 black is way more rare (and still has a picture of him running and pitching).

I would, I may be in the minority though.

First, I'm buying a Gold Label in 2021 because after a long, very interesting and very educational conversation in this thread it was brought to my attention that the 2018 Class 1 is one of the few RCs of Ohtani that depict him hitting (most importantly of all) and pitching. If that wasn't pointed out to me, I would never have been in the market for a 2018 Gold Label (which, as an aside, might be a big mistake as they seem to be dirt cheap Ohtani RCs, but that's a whole other discussion).

So I'm buying the Class 1 because I like it, not because it is the rarest of the group. If I wanted to buy a /50 Ohtani RC or lower I wouldn't be shopping Gold Labels. The baserunning/pitching of the Class 3 doesn't do much for me and I really, really like the swing follow-through of the Class 1.

And lastly, a Class 3 Blue with its /50 serial number would probably get all bonered up by the seller because it's serial-numbered to /50 and they'd be looking to get 11teen30thousand dollars for it. Forget it. I just like to collect what I like and I like the Class 1. But if you dig the Class 3 then collect the hell out of those. That's what makes this hobby great. It would suck if we all collected the exact same way.

I actually like gold label in general and I like the black parallels in general. I feel like they are underrated cards but not overly popular. When I get mine in hand I will show them off in the thread (assuming they get to me!). I am just trying to learn as much as I can about what makes one card more popular/collectable than another. Since I don't open any product and mainly buy singles/lots I have way less of a feel than most people. I really wish Topps would make it easy on me/us and provide print runs for all of their products!

That sale is awesome.
Really proves how much of a premium 1/1 can have.
Congrats PCP.
